Engine Oil Draining and Filling - General Procedures

| WARNING | The spilling of hot engine oil is unavoidable during this procedure, care must be taken to prevent scalding. |
| CAUTION | Correct installation of the oil filler cap can be obtained by tightening the cap until an audible click is heard. |
Note. Clean the components general area prior to dismantling.

- Remove the cover and disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Specifications»(ref-312564-S31890761012009041400000) article.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the engine under shield. Refer to «Air Deflector»(ref-312542-S37767534682009041400000) article.
- Remove the oil pan drain plug. Position a container to collect the fluid. Discard the oil pan drain plug seal.
- Remove the oil filter. Position a container to collect the fluid. Discard the oil filter.
- Using the special tool, install the oil filter. Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil and tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb.ft).
- Tighten the drain plug to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft). Install a new seal.
- Fill the engine with oil.
- Connect the battery ground cable and install the cover. Refer to «Specifications»(ref-312564-S31890761012009041400000) article.
- Start engine and run at idle speed until the oil pressure warning light extinguishes. Stop the engine. Check for leaks.
- Install the engine under shield. Refer to «Air Deflector»(ref-312542-S37767534682009041400000) article.
- Check and top-up the engine oil.
