Removal

All vehicles

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Battery, Mounting and Cables»(ref-311034) article.

Vehicles without convertible top

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to «Jacking and Lifting»(ref-311011) article.

Vehicles with convertible top

Scheme 1

1. Remove the radiator splash shield. Refer to «Front End Body Panels»(ref-311035) article.
2. Remove the underbody front cross brace.

All vehicles

1. Remove the generator lower cooling duct.
2. Remove the generator upper cooling duct.
3. Reposition the battery cables shroud.
4. Disconnect the battery cables.
5. Remove the starter motor upper retaining bolt.
6. Remove the starter motor.

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten to 45 Nm.
2. Tighten to 45 Nm.
3. Tighten to 10 Nm.
4. Tighten to 7 Nm.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Battery, Mounting and Cables»(ref-311034) article.
2. Remove the steering gear. Refer to «Power Steering»(ref-311030) article.
3. Remove the generator lower cooling duct.
4. Remove the generator upper cooling duct.
5. Reposition the battery cables shroud.
6. Disconnect the battery cables.
7. Remove the starter motor upper retaining bolt.
8. Remove the starter motor.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten to 45 Nm.
2. Tighten to 45 Nm.
3. Tighten to 10 Nm.
4. Tighten to 7 Nm.
