Valve Clearance Adjustment
Note. To perform adjustment procedure, it is necessary to remove camshafts.
Remove camshafts. Using compressed air, blow between shim edge and bucket to dislodge shim. Remove shims which require replacement. To calculate the required shim thickness, start by measuring original shim thickness. Record measurement. Add measured clearance (taken before removal of camshafts) to original shim thickness. Subtract desired clearance. The ending number will equal the new required shim thickness. Apply a light coat of engine oil to shim before installation. Install camshafts. Install valve covers.
