DIRECT IGNITION SYSTEM (DIS)
Note. DIS ignition coils are identical and interchangeable.
CARBURETOR
Note. For carburetor electrical component testing, see information in SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - CARBURETED article.
Primary & Secondary Throttle Valve Interlock
Slowly open throttle valve until kick lever tang contacts return plate. Measure clearance between throttle valve and chamber wall. Ensure clearance is.272-.331" (6.90-8.40 mm). Ensure valve angle is 57 degrees. If reading is not as specified, adjust by bending kick lever tang. (Схема №11)
OXYGEN (O2) SENSOR
See OXYGEN (O2) SENSOR under FUEL SYSTEM (FUEL INJECTION).
FUEL SYSTEM (FUEL INJECTION)
| WARNING | Always relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting any fuel injection-related component. DO NOT allow fuel to contact electrical parts while testing fuel system components. |
MPI
- Loosen fuel filler cap to relieve tank pressure. Remove fuel pump relay from underhood fuse/relay box. See «FUEL PUMP RELAY LOCATION (MPI)»(ref-16835-S17531698392000122900000) .
- Start engine, and allow it to run until it stalls. Loosen hose clamp of fuel line on side of pressure regulator coming from fuel line inlet distributor pipe.
- Cover fuel hose using a shop towel. Slowly pull hose from pressure regulator to relieve fuel pressure. When fuel stops leaking, reinstall hose and clamp.

| Stylus | On Left Fender Panel, Behind Battery |
| Trooper | In Right Fenderwell Relay Box |
FUEL PUMP RELAY LOCATION (MPI)
TBI
Disconnect negative battery cable. Open fuel filler cap. Throttle body unit has an internal bleed feature which bleeds fuel pressure off when fuel pump is not operating.
FUEL INJECTORS (TBI)
Note. Following procedure covers removing injectors without removing throttle body assembly from vehicle. For throttle body removal procedure, see THROTTLE BODY .
