DESCRIPTION

Vehicles are equipped with either a Federal (Fed) emission system or a California (CA) emission system. The following components listed do not apply to all vehicles. Always verify vehicle emission system application prior to inspecting any emission system or component.

On Q45 (FED) models, EGR valve and evaporative system is controlled by PCM and the EGR valve and EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve. On I30 and Q45 (CA) models, PCM controls EGRC solenoid valve. When EGRC solenoid valve is "ON", vacuum is applied to EGR valve. On all models, EGR valve operation is regulated by the EGR backpressure transducer. When exhaust system has enough backpressure, vacuum is then applied to EGR valve.
