Left Front Door
Ground is supplied
- To front power window main switch terminal No. 5.
- Through body grounds M9, M25 and M87. For body ground locations, see «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-154171-S11498328872003050700000) .
When the front power window main switch is pressed in the UP position, power is supplied
- To left front power window regulator terminal No. 1.
- Through front power window main switch terminal No. 2.
Ground is supplied
- To left front power window regulator terminal No. 3.
- Through front power window main switch terminal No. 3.
Then, the motor raises the window until the switch is released.
When the front power window main switch is pressed in the DOWN position, power is supplied
- To the left front power window regulator terminal No. 3.
- Through front power window main switch terminal No. 3.
Ground is supplied
- To left front power window regulator terminal No. 1.
- Through front power window main switch terminal No. 2.
Then, the lowers the window until the switch is released.
Right Front Door
Ground is supplied
- To front power window main switch terminal No. 5
- Through body grounds M9, M25 and M87. For body ground locations, see «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-154171-S11498328872003050700000) .
When the right front power window switch is pressed in the UP position power is supplied
- To right front power window regulator terminal No. 1.
- Through right front power window switch terminal No. 5.
Ground is supplied
- To right front power window regulator terminal No. 3.
- Through right front power window switch terminal No. 4.
Then, the motor raises the window until the switch is released.
When the right front power window switch is pressed in the DOWN position, power is supplied
- To right front power window regulator terminal No. 3.
- Through right front power window switch terminal No. 5.
Then, the motor lowers the window until the switch is released.
Rear Doors
During main switch operation of left rear door power window, power is supplied
- Through front power window main switch terminals No. 12 and 13.
- To left rear power window switch terminals No. 3 and 4.
The subsequent operation is the same for the left rear power window switch as the right front power window switch operation.
During left rear power window switch operation, power is supplied
- Through left rear power window switch terminals No. 1 and 2.
- To left rear power window regulator terminals No. 1 and 2.
Ground is supplied
- To left rear power window regulator terminals No. 1 and 2.
- Through left rear power window switch terminals 1 and 2.
- To left rear power window switch terminals No. 3 and 4.
- Through front power window main switch terminals No. 12 and 13.
Then, the motor raises or lowers the window until the switch is released.
During main switch operation of right rear door power window, power is supplied
- Through front power window main switch terminals No. 9 and 10.
- To right rear power window switch terminals No. 3 and 4.
- Through right rear power window switch terminals No. 1 and 2.
- To right rear power window regulator terminals No. 1 and 2.
Ground is supplied
- To right rear power window regulator terminals No. 1 and 2.
- Through right rear power window switch terminals No. 1 and 2.
- To right rear power window switch terminals No. 3 and 4.
- Through front power window main switch terminals No. 9 and 10.
Then, the motor raises or lowers the window until the switch is released.
POWER WINDOW LOCK
The power window lock is designed to lock operation of all windows except for driver's door window. When the lock switch is pressed to lock position, ground of the front and rear power window switches in the front power window main switch is disconnected. This prevents the power window motors from operating.
INTERRUPTION DETECTION FUNCTION
Power window main switch monitors the power window regulator motor operation and the power window position (full closed or other) for driver's passenger's side power window by the signals from encoder and limit switch in front power window regulator (driver's and passenger's side).
When power window main switch detects interruption during the following close operation in driver's side door
- Automatic close operation when ignition switch is in ON position.
- Automatic close operation during retained power operation.
- Manual close operation during retained power operation.
Power window main switch controls driver's and passenger's side power window regulator motor for open and the power window will be lowered about 150 mm (5.91 in).
DRIVER'S WINDOW INOPERATIVE
Check wire harness between power window main switch and power window regulator for open and/or short circuits. Check driver's power window regulator and power window main switch.
PASSENGER WINDOWS INOPERATIVE
Check the following in order listed and repair as necessary
- Check power window sub-switch.
- Check power window regulator.
- Check power window main switch.
- Check wiring for open and/or short circuit between power window main switch and power window sub-switch.
- Check White/Blue wire between power window relay and terminal No. 13 on passenger's front window switch for open and/or short circuit.
- Check wiring for open and/or short circuit between power window regulator and power window sub-switch.
MAIN SWITCH DOES NOT OPERATE PASSENGER WINDOWS
Check power window main switch.
DRIVER'S WINDOW AUTO-FUNCTION INOPERATIVE
Check power window main switch. Check encoder and limit switch. See ENCODER & LIMIT SWITCH CHECK under COMPONENT TESTS.
RETAINED POWER FUNCTION INOPERATIVE
Check the following in order listed and repair as necessary
- Check Purple wire for open and/or short circuit between terminal No. 2 on power window relay and Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU).
- Check for battery voltage at terminal No. 46 (Purple wire) on SECU connector within 45 seconds of turning ignition key to OFF position. Ensure all doors are closed.
- Check continuity of power window switches ground circuits.
- Inspect all power window switches.
- Replace SECU.
INTERRUPTION DETECTION FUNCTION DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY
Check encoder and limit switch. See ENCODER & LIMIT SWITCH CHECK under COMPONENT TESTS.
ENCODER & LIMIT SWITCH CHECK
- Inspect suspect window slide mechanism. Ensure that slide is free from debris or damage. Check for worn molding. Ensure window is not binding in molding. Repair as needed. If window is able to slide freely, go to next step.
- Disconnect suspect window regulator connector. Access power window switch harness connector. Do not disconnect connector. Turn ignition on. Backprobing connector, measure voltage in Green/White wire, between ground and terminal No. 15 (driver's side) or No. 16 (passenger's side). (Scheme 3) If 5 volts is present, go to next step. If 5 volts is not present, replace power window switch.
- Reconnect suspect window regulator connector. Ensure window is fully open. Access power window switch harness connector. Do not disconnect connector. Turn ignition on. Backprobing connector, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 15 (driver's side) or No. 16 (passenger's side). (Scheme 3) Raise window while monitoring voltmeter. Voltage should remain at zero volts until window is within.59" (15 mm) of being closed. Once window opening is less than.59" (15 mm), voltage should be 5 volts. If voltage is as specified, go to step 5. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
- Reset suspect window limit switch. Fully close window. Press and hold reset switch on window regulator. (Scheme 4) Fully lower window. Release reset switch. Fully close window. Repeat step 3 at least 10 times. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace window regulator motor.
- Turn ignition on. Using oscilloscope, backprobe suspect window switch connector and measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 14 (driver's side) or No. 19 (passenger's side). (Scheme 5) Raise window using automatic function. Square wave pattern should oscillate between 0-5 volts. If oscilloscope pattern is as specified, replace power window switch. If oscilloscope pattern is not as specified, replace window regulator motor.
