Starters: Overview Infiniti FX45 I

DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

Power is supplied at all times

1. Through 40-amp fusible link (Letter "F", located in fuse, fusible link and relay box)
2. To ignition switch terminal No. 1
3. Through 15-amp fuse (No. 78, located in IPDM E/R)
4. To CPU of IPDM E/R
5. Through 10-amp fuse (No. 71, located in IPDM E/R)
6. To CPU of IPDM E/R

When selector lever in "P" or "N" position, power is supplied

1. From TCM and through automatic transmission assembly terminal No. 9
2. To IPDM E/R terminal No. 53

Ground is supplied

1. To IPDM E/R terminals No. 38, 50 and 60
2. From body grounds E21, E50 and E51

With ignition switch in the START position, and provided that the IPDM E/R receives starting signal from the CAN lines, the IPDM E/R is energized and power is supplied

1. From ignition switch terminal No. 5
2. To IPDM E/R terminal No. 4
3. Through IPDM E/R terminal No. 3
4. To starter motor terminal No. 1

Starter motor plunger closes and provides a closed circuit between the battery and starter motor. Starter motor is grounded to engine block. With power and ground supplied, cranking occurs and engine starts.
