ACCENT

Battery voltage is applied to power window relay when ignition switch is in RUN position through fuse No. 16 (10-amp), located in passenger compartment fuse panel. When relay is energized, battery voltage is supplied, by way of Blue fusible link (20-amp) in engine compartment relay box, to the power switch assembly through relay's closed contacts. When either switch is operated, battery voltage is applied to the respective power window motor. The power window motor is grounded through the opposite contact in the switch assembly.

Delta Sash (Tiburon)

Using bolt at bottom of delta sash. Adjust distance between delta sash and door inner panel to.669" (17 mm). (Scheme 8) Tighten delta sash bolt and adjust bolt to 84-120 INCH lbs. (9-14 N.m).

Channel (Tiburon)

Using bolt at bottom of channel, adjust distance between channel and door inner panel to.728" (18.5 mm). (Scheme 9) Tighten channel mounting and adjustment bolt to 84-120 INCH lbs. (9-14 N.m).

Regulator (Tiburon)

Using regulator adjusting bolt, adjust distance between channel and door inner panel to.571" (14.5 mm). (Scheme 10) Tighten regulator mounting and adjusting bolt to 85-120 INCH lbs. (9-14 N.m).

Stabilizers (Tiburon)

Loosen stabilizer nuts. Adjust and set front and rear stabilizers to specified clearance. (Scheme 11) Tighten stabilizer nuts to 85-120 INCH lbs. (9-14 N.m).

Stopper (Tiburon)

  1. With glass fully closed, glass edge must be parallel to weatherstrip at roof section and 2 stoppers must simultaneously come into contact. Loosen 2 stopper mounting bolts. Adjust as necessary. (Scheme 12) Tighten stopper catch to 85-120 INCH lbs. (9-14 N.m). Tighten glass stopper to 36-48 INCH lbs. (4-6 N.m).
  2. Close door and glass fully. Check for water leaks. Adjust as necessary. Install door trim seal and trim panel.

  3. Defective wiring harness. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-4085-S31563587592000061200000) .

PASSENGER'S WINDOW INOPERATIVE

If only passenger's window is inoperative, check the following and repair as necessary

  1. Defective power window main switch. See «POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH»(ref-4085-S33652860382000061200000) under COMPONENT TESTS.
  2. Defective motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTORS»(ref-4085-S23326654322000061200000) under COMPONENT TESTS.
  3. Defective wiring harness. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-4085-S31563587592000061200000) .

POWER WINDOW MOTORS

Remove motor to be tested. Apply battery voltage across motor terminals. Motor should operate smoothly. Reverse polarity and ensure motor operates smoothly in opposite direction. If motor does not test as specified, replace power window motor.

Accent & Sonata

  1. Remove power window relay from power distribution box. Check continuity between power window relay terminals No. 1 and 3, and between terminals No. 2 and 4. (Scheme 13) Continuity should exist between terminals No. 1 and 3. Continuity should not exist between terminals No. 2 and 4. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace power window relay.
  2. Apply battery voltage between terminals No. 1 and 3. Check continuity between terminals No. 2 and 4. If continuity exists, power window relay is okay. If continuity does not exist, replace power window relay.

Elantra & Tiburon

  1. Remove power window relay from power distribution box. Check continuity between power window relay terminals No. 3 and 5, and between terminals No. 1 and 2. (Scheme 14) Continuity should exist between terminals No. 3 and 5. Continuity should not exist between terminals No. 1 and 2. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace power window relay.
  2. Apply battery voltage between terminals No. 3 and 5. Check continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2. If continuity exists, power window relay is okay. If continuity does not exist, replace power window relay.
