General Description
AFLS (Adaptive Front-Lighting System) provides driver with the best visibility by adjusting vertical direction of the headlamp. It consists of AFLS ECU, Leveling Actuator-Intelligent Stepper Motor, Swivel Actuator, Head lamp switch, Height sensor (not applied to ECS). For efficient operation of system, AFLS ECU check Battery voltage. Battery function is supply power to AFLS ECU and Actuators.
DTC Description
AFLS ECU set this code If higher voltage input than available voltage to circuit, and discontinued operation in order to prevent from damage for internal motor coil of Actuator.

AFLS ECU set this code If lower voltage input than available voltage to circuit, and discontinued operation in order to prevent from system malfunctioning.
Several control units are applied to electronically controlled vehicles. These units perform each control with informations from various sensors. Thus, sharing signal information from sensors is needed, so CAN communication type whose communication speed is high and insensitive to electrical noise by spark generation is adopted to controlling power-train (engine, automatic transaxle, ABS, TCS, ECS)AFLS ECU is input some informations (engine speed, steering angle sensor's signal, vehicle speed) in order to maintain optimum headlamp condition through CAN communication. AFLS ECU determine working or not and range performance and working speed to headlamp in according with wheel speed signal.

Steering angle sensor is installed under the clock spring. Steering angle sensor input to AFLS ECU uses CAN communication in order to measure for speed of steering wheel's operation and angel. Steering angle sensor is composed with main gear and sub gear1, sub gear2 to determine for rotation direction. According to rotation of steering wheel, If the main gear rotate, sub gear1 and sub gear2 be related. Steering angle sensor calculate rotation angle use MR effect of magnetic that installed in sub gear and different gear ratio sub gear1 and sub gear2. AFLS (Adaptive Front-Lighting System) provides driver with the best visibility uses steering angle sensor's signal.

When the AFLS ECU cannot read the data from the ECM through the CAN-BUS line, the AFLS ECU sets this code. CAN-BUS circuit malfunctioning or ECM can be a possible cause of this DTC.

AFLS ECU set this code If LIN communication line short to battery or ground, almost cause of this DTC is LIN communication line or faulty headlamp.
The ECU store height sensor's value to deactivation memory inside ECU, When the ECU initializing a height sensor. The ECU reinstitute a present height sensor's value to "zero" and reflect for the operation levelling control by reinstituted height sensor's value.
B1637 code is request code for initializing of height sensor after parameter downloading for not applied to air suspension.

AFLS ECU is installed with not input information about suspension's type. When AFLS ECU replace, AFLS ECU have to download correct parameter of suspension's information in accordance with suspension's type. If AFLS ECU download incorrect parameter, IG KEY "OFF" --> "ON" after performing parameter initialization and then redownload to correct parameter.
B1637 code is not download correct parameter to AFLS ECU
