Power Windows: Removal & Installation — Hyundai Elantra III (2000-2003)

Removal & Installation (Accent)

Remove side view mirror inner cover. Remove side view mirror mounting screws, and remove mirror. Remove inside door handle bezel. Remove trim panel mounting screws. Using a trim tool, remove door trim panel.
Remove door panel and disconnect electrical connectors. Remove door trim seal and lower window glass. Remove door speaker. Remove window glass. Remove outside weatherstrip.
Remove door regulator channel mounting bolts. Remove regulator and motor as an assembly. Disconnect power window motor harness connector. Remove screws attaching power window motor to window regulator. Separate power window motor from window regulator. To install, reverse removal procedure. (Scheme 2)

Note. Power window motor and regulator are part of door module. Module disassembly procedure is not available from manufacturer.

Remove inside door handle trim. Remove door trim panel screws. Using a trim tool, remove door trim panel. Disconnect electrical connectors at power window main switch, door lock actuator, side view mirror, and trunk lid opener switch. Remove door panel.
Remove front speaker and door vapor barrier. Lower window glass and remove 2 lower glass mounting bolts. (Scheme 1) Remove window glass from front door module. Remove door window glass run. Remove door rear channel.
Remove outside handle, latch and door lock actuator bolts. Disconnect door module connectors. Remove door module. To install, reverse removal procedure. When installing door vapor barrier, DO NOT allow butyl tape to block door trim fastener holes.

Note. Power window motor and regulator are part of door module. Module disassembly procedure is not available from manufacturer.

Remove inside door handle trim. Remove door trim panel screws. Using a trim tool between trim fasteners and door trim panel, remove trim panel. Disconnect electrical connectors.
Remove front speaker and door vapor barrier. Lower door glass, remove door glass mounting bolts and remove door glass. Remove door glass run. Remove front and rear door channels. (Scheme 1)
Disconnect exterior door handle rod. Remove latch and door lock actuator bolts. Remove wiring harness and door module. To install, reverse removal procedure. When installing door vapor barrier, do not allow butyl tape to block door trim fastener holes.

Remove quadrant inner cover, and remove rear view mirror. Remove inside door handle bezel. Remove power window main switch, and disconnect switch connector. (Scheme 2)
Using a trim tool, remove door trim. Disconnect door light connector. Remove pull handle mounting bracket and door inside handle. Remove door vapor barrier and speaker. Remove door belt outside weatherstrip.
Lower door window glass and loosen carrier plate mounting bolts in the regulator channel. Remove door glass through window slot. Remove door regulator channel mounting bolts, and remove door regulator and motor assembly.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten door glass mounting bolts to 71-106 INCH lbs. (8-12 N.m). Tighten door regulator channel mounting bolts to 35-53 INCH lbs. (4-6 N.m). Adjust window glass as needed. See «FRONT DOOR GLASS»(ref-63391-S01485859512001020200000) under ADJUSTMENTS.

Remove inside door handle bezel. Remove power window main switch, and disconnect harness connector. Remove screws from inside grip handle. Using a trim tool, remove door trim panel. Remove door panel and disconnect door light connector.
Remove carrier plate bolts from regulator channel. Slide window to closed position, and secure in place. Remove regulator retaining screws. Disconnect power window motor harness connector. Remove regulator assembly. Remove screw attaching power window motor to window regulator. Separate power window motor from window regulator.
To install, reverse removal procedure. (Scheme 2) Adjust window glass as necessary. See «FRONT DOOR GLASS»(ref-63391-S01485859512001020200000) under ADJUSTMENTS.

Remove door inside handle bezel. Remove door trim panel screws. Using a trim tool, remove door trim panel. Disconnect power window switch and door courtesy light connectors.
Remove door handle mounting bracket and inside door handle. Remove speaker and door vapor barrier. Remove door glass stopper catch. (Scheme 3)or (Scheme 4).
If not replacing window glass, it is not necessary to remove door glass stopper. Loosen window glass carrier plate mounting bolts in regulator channel. Remove power window regulator mounting bolts and remove regulator. Remove power window motor from regulator.

Install power window motor to window regulator and tighten mounting nuts to 78-121 INCH lbs. (9-14 N.m). Install door front channel, window regulator and window glass to regulator carrier plate. Install nuts and bolts, but DO NOT tighten at this time.
If removed, install stopper catch in center of door inner panel mounting hole. Install stabilizer and mounting nuts. (Scheme 3)or (Scheme 4). Slowly tighten stabilizer mounting nuts, while simultaneously pushing door glass outward.
Adjust door glass and tighten mounting bolts and nuts to 78-121 INCH lbs. (9-14 N.m). See «FRONT DOOR GLASS»(ref-63391-S01485859512001020200000) or «REAR DOOR GLASS»(ref-63391-S33651537052001030600000) under ADJUSTMENTS. To complete installation, reverse removal procedures. Check for window water and air leaks.
