MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL)
An on-board diagnostic light comes on to notify the driver that there is problems in the vehicle. However, when an irregular state returns to normal, the malfunction indicator light will go out automatically after 3 driving cycles that have no same fault. Immediately after the ignition switch is turned on, the malfunction indicator light operates normally. (See FL-section)

- Completely warm up the transaxle.
- Raise the front of the vehicle so that the front wheels can be rotated.
- Connect an engine tachometer and place it in a position where it's easy to see.
- Attach the special oil-pressure gauge (09452-21500) and the adapter (09452-21002) to each oil-pressure outlet port. When the reverse pressure is to be tested, the 3,000 kPa (400 psi) type of gauge should be used.
- Measure the oil pressure under various conditions. Check to be sure that the measured results are within the standard value range shown in the "Standard oil pressure table" below. If the oil pressure is not within the specified range, check and repair as described in the section " «Preliminary Steps if Oil Pressure Is Not Normal»(ref-169102-S31077930872004112900000) ".

PRESSURE CONTROL VALVE A, B
Pressure control valve A, B regulate the pressure supplied to each clutch under the control of the pressure control solenoid valve A, B to eliminate shock at the time of shifting.

The main function of this valve controls the rear clutch independently.
SHIFT CONTROL VALVE AND SOLENOID VALVE A, B, C
The line pressure acting upon the shift control valve is controlled by the two shift control solenoid valves (which are switch ON and OFF according to the shifting gear by the transaxle control module command), and the shift control valve is activated according to the shifting gear, thus switching the oil passages.
The relationship of the shifting gear and the ON-OFF switch of shift control solenoid valve "A", "B" and "C" are shown in the table below.

- Remove the battery terminal and the battery.
- Removal the air cleaner.
- Remove the transaxle range switch connector.
- Remove the solenoid valve connector and the oil temperature sensor connector.
- Remove the cotter pin of the control cable.
- Remove the oil filler tube.
- Remove the clip of the control cable.
- Remove the oil cooler hose.
- Remove the speedometer driven gear connector. (speed sensor connector)
- Remove the u-joint.
- Remove the power steering return hose.
- Remove the tire.
- Remove the starter motor.
- Remove the bolt for the upper connection of the engine and the transaxle.
- Remove the caliper after lifting up the vehicle.
- Separate the tie rod end from the pin and nut.
- Remove the oil drain plug and drain the oil.
- Remove the transaxle side cover.
- Remove the wheel speed sensor and the knuckle mounting bolt.
- Remove the drive shaft and the left side hub nut.
- Install the special tool, the engine support fixture on the engine assembly.
- Remove the transaxle mounting bracket after removing the hole cover and the mounting bolts.
- Remove the front roll stopper.
- Remove the rear roll stopper.
- Remove the front muffler.
- Remove the bell housing cover. (Bolts : 5EA)
- Remove the torque converter mounting plate bolts (3EA).
- Remove the cylinder block plate bolt.
- Install the jack for supporting transaxle.
- Remove the lower mounting bolts (2EA) of the transaxle.
- Remove the sub frame.
- Remove the transaxle.
