Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see DTC TROUBLESHOOTING INDEX ).
Scheme 155
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Check the ELD in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is 72 A or more indicated? YES - Go to step 3. NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ELD and the PCM.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the ELD 3P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Check the ELD in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is 72 A or more indicated? YES - Go to step 7. NO - Go to step 11 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect PCM connector A (44P).
- Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal A23 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between the PCM (A23) and the ELD, then go to step 13 . NO - Go to step 19 .
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Replace the under-hood fuse/relay box (see «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-220003-S09253066142006021600000) ).
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Reset the PCM with the HDS.
- Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-219960-S21279730262006021600000) ).
- Start the engine.
- Turn on the headlights.
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P1297 indicated? YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ELD unit and the PCM, then go to step 1 . NO - Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «PCM UPDATING AND SUBSTITUTION FOR TESTING»(ref-219956-S29187290912006021600000) ), or substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-219956-S20631232652006021600000) ).
- Start the engine.
- Turn on the headlights.
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P1297 indicated? YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ELD unit and the PCM. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-219956-S20631232652006021600000) ), then go to step 22 . If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1 . NO - If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM (see «PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-299652-S28764766372008092500000) ). If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
