Steering Wheel & Steering Column: Overview Honda Prelude V

DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

A 2-piece safety steering column with slip-joint flange connection is used. Steering column is supported by a column tube and steering lock assembly. Models are equipped with driver's side air bag.

WARNINGTo avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. Deactivate air bag system before performing any repairs. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .

AIR BAG SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK

Turn ignition on. SRS or AIR BAG indicator light should remain on for about 6 seconds and then go off. If indicator light operates as specified, air bag system is functioning properly. If indicator light does not illuminate, does not go off after about 6 seconds or stays on while driving, air bag system must be inspected. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTING in AIR BAG SERVICE & REPAIR section.
