Washer/Wiper Combined System
Rear window wiper switch ON: The wiper operates continuously while the washer switch is ON.
Rear window wiper switch OFF: After switching OFF the washer switch, the wiper returns to the park position after completing two sweeps.
Fail-Safe Function
Lock Function: The rear window wiper will not operate if the hatch glass is open.
Emergency Stop Function: If the hatch glass is opened while the rear window wiper is operating, it will automatically stop.
Automatic Park Function: If the ignition switch is turned to LOCK (0) while the rear window wiper is operating, the wiper will return to the park position.
Glass Hatch Access Function
If the hatch glass button is pressed and the wiper is ON, the rear wiper will automatically park. After the hatch glass is closed, the rear wiper will start again.

- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).
- Turn the rear window wiper/washer switch ON.
- Check the rear window wiper operation. Does the rear window wiper motor operate? YES - Go to step 5 . NO - Go to step 14 .
- Select BODY ELECTRICAL system select menu, then enter the DATA LIST menu.
- Check the ON/OFF information of the Rear Wiper RISE/RET Switch with the HDS. Is OFF indicated when the motor stopped, and ON intermittently indicated when the motor runs? YES - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections. • NO - Go to step 7 .
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the rear window wiper motor 5P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Measure the voltage between rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Check for an open in the wire between the rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 3 and G601. If the wire is OK, replace the rear window wiper motor (see «REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-333579-S12652177232009072100000) ). • NO - Go to step 11 .
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector T (34P).
- Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 2 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector T (34P) terminal No. 27. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 13 . NO - Repair an open in the wire.
- Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short to ground in the wire. • NO - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (see «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-333607-S23852302332009072100000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Check the No. 13 (10 A) fuse in the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box. Is the fuse OK? YES - Go to step 16 . NO - Go to step 23 .
- Remove the rear window wiper motor relay 1 from the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Measure the voltage between rear window wiper motor relay 1 5P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 4, and terminals No. 5 and No. 4. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 18 . NO - Repair an open in the wire or poor ground (G303).
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P).
- Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor relay 1 5P connector terminal No. 3 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) terminal No. 3. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 20 . NO - Repair an open in the wire.
- Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) terminal No. 3 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short to ground in the wire. • NO - Go to step 21 .
- Disconnect the rear window wiper motor 5P connector.
- Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor relay 1 5P connector terminal No. 1 and the rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 4. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 24 . NO - Repair an open in the wire.
- Disconnect the rear window wiper motor 5P connector, then check for continuity between the rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short to ground in the wire. • NO - Go to step 29 .
- Do the rear window wiper motor relay 1 test (see «POWER RELAY TEST»(ref-333609-S14631099402009072100000) ). Is the rear window wiper motor relay 1 OK? YES - Go to step 25 . NO - Faulty rear window wiper motor relay 1; replace it.
- Remove the rear window wiper motor relay 2 from the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Measure the voltage between rear window wiper motor relay 2 5P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 4, and terminals No. 5 and No. 4. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 27 . NO - Repair an open in the wire or poor ground (G303).
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector R (20P).
- Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor relay 2 5P connector terminal No. 3 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector R (20P) terminal No. 12. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 29 . NO - Repair an open in the wire.
- Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector R (20P) terminal No. 12 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short to ground in the wire. • NO - Go to step 30 .
- Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor relay 2 5P connector terminal No. 1 and rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 5. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 32 . NO - Repair an open in the wire.
- Disconnect the rear window wiper motor 5P connector, then check for continuity between rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 5 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short to ground in the wire. • NO - Replace the No. 13 (10 A) fuse in the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box and recheck the system.
- Do the rear window wiper motor relay 2 test (see «POWER RELAY TEST»(ref-333609-S14631099402009072100000) ). Is the rear window wiper motor relay 2 OK? YES - Go to step 33 . NO - Faulty rear window wiper motor relay 2; replace it.
- Do the rear window wiper motor test (see «WIPER MOTOR TEST»(ref-333579-S37617186432009072100000) ). Is the rear window wiper motor OK? YES - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (see «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-333607-S23852302332009072100000) ). • NO - Faulty rear window wiper motor; replace it (see «REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-333579-S12652177232009072100000) ).

- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and the windshield wiper switch ON.
- Check the windshield wiper operation. Does the wiper work? YES - Go to step 3 . NO - Go to step 13 .
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).
- Turn the windshield wiper switch ON, and then OFF.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC B1077 indicated? YES - Go to step 7 . NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Select BODY ELECTRICAL system select menu, then enter the DATA LIST menu.
- Check the ON/OFF information of the FR WIPER AS with the HDS. Is OFF indicated when the motor is stopped, and ON intermittently indicated when the motor runs? YES - Faulty MICU, replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (see «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-333607-S23852302332009072100000) ). • NO - Go to step 9 .
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the windshield wiper motor 5P connector.
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (34P).
- Check for continuity between the windshield wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 4 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (34P) terminal No. 32. Is there continuity? YES - Faulty MICU, replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (see «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-333607-S23852302332009072100000) ). • NO - Repair an open in the wire.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Check the No. 38 (30 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box. Is the fuse OK? YES - Go to step 15 . NO - Replace the fuse and recheck the system.
- Do «WIPER MOTOR TEST»(ref-333579-S37617186432009072100000) . Does the wiper motor run normally? YES - Go to step 16 . NO - Replace the windshield wiper motor and recheck.
- Disconnect the windshield wiper motor 5P connector.
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (34P).
- Check for continuity between the windshield wiper motor 5P connector terminals No. 3 and No. 5 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector F (34P) terminals No. 18 and No. 19. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 19 . NO - Repair an open in the wire.
- Check for continuity between the windshield wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Faulty MICU, replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (see «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-333607-S23852302332009072100000) ). • NO - Repair an open in the wire or poor ground (G301).

- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).
- Turn the wiper switch to MIST, INT, LOW, HIGH, and OFF positions.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC B1281, B1282, B1283, or B1284 indicated? YES - Go to step 5 . NO - Intermittent failure, the wiper system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Select WIPERS from the BODY ELECTRICAL menu, and enter the DATA LIST.
- Check each wiper switch position value with the DATA LIST menu. When the wiper switch is turned OFF DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE Data List Value Wiper switch (LOW) OFF Wiper switch (HIGH) OFF Wiper switch (MIST) OFF Wiper switch (INT) OFF Are all data list values correct? YES - Go to step 7 . NO - Go to step 11 .
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P).
- Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) terminals and the wiper/washer switch 8P connector terminals as shown: WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH 8P CONNECTOR REFERENCE TABLE Under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) Wiper/washer switch 8P connector 4 5 10 2 20 4 16 3 Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 10 . NO - Repair an open in the wire.
- Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) terminals as shown below: CONNECTOR TERMINAL REFERENCE TABLE From terminal To terminal 10 20 16 20 Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short between the wires. • NO - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (see «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-333607-S23852302332009072100000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the 8P connector from the wiper switch.
- Check each wiper switch position value with the DATA LIST menu. When the wiper switch is turned OFF DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE Data List Value Wiper switch (LOW) OFF Wiper switch (HIGH) OFF Wiper switch (MIST) OFF Wiper switch (INT) OFF Are all data list values correct? YES - Replace the wiper/washer switch (see «WIPER/WASHER SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT»(ref-333579-S01203223372009072100000) ). • NO - Go to step 14 .
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P).
- Check for continuity between body ground and under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) terminals No. 10, No. 16 and No. 20. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short to ground in the wire. • NO - Go to step 17 .
- Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) terminal No. 4 and terminals No. 10, No. 16 and No. 20 individually. Is there continuity? YES - Repair a short between the wires. • NO - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (see «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-333607-S23852302332009072100000) ).
