MICU Input Test
Note. Before testing, troubleshoot the multiplex integrated control unit first, using B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A (see TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A ), and check the No. 38 (30 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
Scheme 4
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and remove the driver's dashboard lower cover (see «DRIVER'S DASHBOARD LOWER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333587-S27385002872009072100000) ).
- Disconnect the under-dash fuse/relay box connectors E, F, R, S and T. NOTE: All connector views are shown from the wire side of female terminals.
- Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 4 .
- With the connector still disconnected, do these input tests at the following connectors. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 5 . - Reconnect the connectors to the under-dash fuse/relay box, turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and do these input tests at the following connectors. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, the MICU must be faulty; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (see «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-333607-S23852302332009072100000) ). - Remove the steering column covers (see «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333587-S09044343762009072100000) ).
- Disconnect the dashboard wire harness 8P connector (A) from the wiper/washer switch (B).
- Remove the two screws, then slide out the wiper/washer switch.
- Inspect the connector terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 5 .
- Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table below. Windshield Rear Window
- If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.
- Install the switch in the reverse order of removal.

- Open the hood, and remove the wiper arms (see «WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-333579-S10074193412009072100000) ). NOTE: Carefully remove the wiper arms so that they do not touch the hood.
- Remove the cowl covers (see «COWL COVER REPLACEMENT»(ref-333593-S23280153962009072100000) ).
- Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the windshield wiper motor (B).
- Test the motor by connecting battery power to the windshield wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 3 and ground to terminal No. 2. The motor should run at low speed. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the motor (see «WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-333579-S10074193412009072100000) ).
- Test the motor by connecting battery power to the windshield wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 5 and ground to terminal No. 2. The motor should run at high speed. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the motor (see «WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-333579-S10074193412009072100000) ).
- Connect an analog ohmmeter between the windshield wiper motor 5P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 4, and run the motor at low or high speed. The ohmmeter should indicate continuity and no continuity alternately. If it does not, replace the motor (see «WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-333579-S10074193412009072100000) ).

- Open the tailgate, and remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA»(ref-333585-S04198044782009072100000) ).
- Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the rear window wiper motor (B).
- Test the motor by connecting battery power to terminal No. 4 and ground to terminal No. 5 of the wiper motor. The motor should run. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the motor (see «REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-333579-S12652177232009072100000) ).
- Connect an ohmmeter between terminals No. 1 and No. 3 and between terminals No. 2 and No. 3. There should be continuity when the wiper is in the park position.
- Connect an ohmmeter between terminals No. 1 and No. 3. There should be no continuity when the wiper is in the rise/return position.
- Connect an ohmmeter between terminals No. 2 and No. 3. There should be continuity when the wiper is in the rise/return position.

- Open the hood.
- Disconnect the 2P connectors (A) from the washer motors (B).
- Test the motor by connecting battery power to terminal No. 2 and ground terminal No. 1 of the washer motor. The motor should run. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace it. If the motor runs smoothly, but little or no washer fluid is pumped, check for a disconnected or blocked washer hose, or a clogged washer motor outlet.

- Remove the front bumper (see «FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333589-S35526460782009072100000) ).
- Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the washer fluid level switch.
- Remove the washer fluid level switch from the washer reservoir. NOTE: Fluid may flow out of the opening.
- Check for continuity between terminals No. 1 and No. 2 in each float position. There should be continuity when the float is down. There should be no continuity when the float is up.
- If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

- Open the hood. Remove the nuts (A) and the windshield wiper arms (B).
- Remove the cowl covers (see «COWL COVER REPLACEMENT»(ref-333593-S23280153962009072100000) ).
- Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the wiper motor.
- Remove the three bolts (B) and the wiper linkage assembly (C).
- Separate the linkage (A) from the link (B).
- Note the position (C), then remove the nut (D) and the link from the wiper motor (E).
- Remove the three bolts, and separate the wiper motor from the linkage (F).

- Before installing the motor, connect the 5P connector to the wiper motor, and turn the wiper/washer switch ON to (LO) or (HI) position, then OFF to return the motor shaft to the park position. NOTE: Do not use the wiper/washer switch (INT) position in this step. If necessary, replace any damaged clips. Apply multipurpose grease to the moving parts.
- Install the wiper motor to the wiper linkage assembly in the reverse order of removal.
- Install the link to the wiper motor shaft, then align the mark (A) of the link and the mark (B) of the wiper linkage assembly.
- After installation, adjust the wiper arms (see «WIPER ARM/NOZZLE ADJUSTMENT»(ref-333579-S35706571232009072100000) ).

- Remove the mounting nut (A) and the wiper arm (B).
- Open the tailgate, and remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA»(ref-333585-S04198044782009072100000) ).
- Disconnect the 5P connector (A) and remove the three mounting bolts (B), then remove the rear window wiper motor (C).
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Open the hood, and remove the front bumper (see «FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333589-S35526460782009072100000) ).
- Disconnect the 2P connectors (A) from the washer motors (B) and the washer fluid level switch.
- Disconnect the washer tubes.
- Remove the two bolts and clip (A), then remove the washer reservoir.
- Install in the reverse order of removal. Check the washer motor operation.

- Lift the wiper arms from the windshield.
- Press and hold the tab (A) and slide the wiper blade (B) toward the tab to release it from the wiper arm (C).
- Slide the rubber (A) out from the wiper blade (B).
- Install a new rubber to the wiper blade in the reverse order of removal.
- Install the wiper blades onto the wiper arms in the reverse order of removal.
- Check the wiper operation, if the blades slip, turn the wiper switch OFF, and reinstall the wiper blades securely.

- Lift the wiper arm from the rear window.
- Turn the rear wiper blade (A), release the lock, and then remove the wiper blade from the rear wiper arm (B).
- Raise the old rubber (A), and remove it from the wiper blade (B).
- Install the new rubber and the wiper blade in the reverse order of removal.
Note. After installation, confirm that the wiper arm works smoothly.

- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then turn the wiper switch ON, and then back OFF.
- When the wiper arms stop at the park position, confirm that they are at the standard position. Position at about 2.6 in. (67 mm) from the top of cowl cover (A) Position at about 2.4 in. (62 mm) from the top of cowl cover (A)
- When you turn on the washers, confirm 50% or more of the washer fluid lands within the spray area. If the spray area is not within the standard positions, adjust the nozzles. Position at about 4.2 in. (107.3 mm) from the top of the black ceramic area (B) at the lower windshield Position at about 4.2 in. - Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then turn the wiper switch ON, and then back OFF.
- When the wiper arm stops at the park position, confirm that it is at the standard position. Wiper arm (A) fits into the lifter hook (B).
- When you turn on the washer, confirm 50% or more of the washer fluid lands within the spray area. If the spray area is not within the standard positions, adjust the nozzles. Position at about 0.8 in. (20 mm) from the top of the black ceramic area (D) at the upper rear window. Position at about 1.1 in. (29 mm) from the top of the black ceramic area (D) at the upper rear window.
