Starting System: Other Honda Odyssey II

Accord, Civic, CR-V, Prelude & S2000

Remove driver's side lower instrument panel cover and knee bolster to gain access to clutch interlock switch connector, if necessary. Disconnect 2-pin connector from clutch interlock switch. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between switch terminals. Clutch interlock switch is normally open. Continuity should not exist when clutch pedal is released. Continuity should exist when clutch pedal is depressed. If readings are not as specified, replace clutch interlock switch.

Accord, CR-V, Odyssey & Prelude

1. Disconnect gear position switch connector, located above transaxle, near gear position switch. (Scheme 16)
2. Check for continuity between specified terminals of gear position switch with shifter in appropriate positions. See «A/T GEAR POSITION SWITCH CONTINUITY»(ref-96209-S30998155242001040300000) table. Replace gear position switch if continuity does not exist between specified terminals.

A/T GEAR POSITION SWITCH CONTINUITY

Civic

1. Locate gear position switch on end of transaxle. Disconnect gear position switch 10-pin connector. (Scheme 17)
2. Check for continuity between specified terminals of gear position switch with shifter in appropriate positions. See «A/T GEAR POSITION SWITCH CONTINUITY»(ref-96209-S30998155242001040300000) table. Replace gear position switch if continuity does not exist between specified terminals.

Accord & Odyssey

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver's side lower instrument panel cover. Disconnect 6-pin connector from steering column harness. Check continuity between specified connector terminals, with ignition switch in appropriate position. (Scheme 18)and (Scheme 19). If continuity is not as specified, replace ignition switch.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver's side lower instrument panel cover and knee bolster. Disconnect 5-pin connector from underdash fuse/relay box. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between specified connector terminals, with ignition switch in appropriate position. (Scheme 20)and (Scheme 21). If continuity is not as specified, replace ignition switch.

CR-V & Prelude

Disconnect negative battery cable. On CR-V, remove driver's side lower instrument panel cover and knee bolster. On Prelude, remove instrument panel lower cover, below steering column. On CR-V or Prelude, disconnect 3-pin and 5-pin connectors from steering column harness. Check continuity between specified connector terminals, with ignition switch in appropriate position. (Scheme 19)(Scheme 22), and (Scheme 23). If continuity is not as specified, replace ignition switch.

S2000

Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect 7-pin connector from steering column harness. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between specified connector terminals, with ignition switch in appropriate position. (Scheme 24)and (Scheme 25). If continuity is not as specified, replace ignition switch.

Accord, Civic, CR-V, Odyssey & S2000

Locate and remove starter relay from vehicle. Connect power and ground to relay terminals No. 3 and 4. (Scheme 26) Ensure continuity exists between relay terminals No. 1 and 2. Disconnect power and ground from terminals No. 3 and 4. Continuity should no longer exist between terminals No. 1 and 2. Replace starter cut relay if it does not test as specified.

Prelude

Locate and remove starter relay from vehicle. Connect power and ground to relay terminals No. 2 and 4. (Scheme 27) Ensure continuity exists between relay terminals No. 1 and 3. Disconnect power and ground from terminals No. 2 and 4. Continuity should no longer exist between terminals No. 1 and 3. Replace starter cut relay if it does not test as specified.
