Generators & Regulators: Removal & Installation Honda Odyssey II

Removal

1. Ensure you have the anti-theft code for the radio and the navigation system. Write down the frequencies for radio's preset buttons.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and disconnect positive cable.
3. Remove the alternator/compressor belt. See «ALTERNATOR/COMPRESSOR BELT»(ref-153574-S19307996872003070200000).
4. Disconnect the alternator 4-pin connector and Black wire "B" from the alternator. (Scheme 11)
5. Remove the mounting bolt "A" and alternator bracket mounting bolt "B". Remove harness clamp"C" from alternator bracket. (Scheme 12)

Installation

1. Install in the reverse order of removal.
2. Enter the anti-theft code for the radio and navigation system. Enter the customer's radio station presets.
3. Perform the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) idle learn procedure, and power window control unit reset procedure. See appropriate COMPUTER RELEARN article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
4. Set the clock.

Replacement

1. Remove the splash shield (2002-04 models).
2. Move the auto-tensioner "A" to relieve tension from the alternator compressor belt "B", and remove the belt. (Scheme 13)(1999-2001 models) or (Scheme 14) (2002-04 models).
3. Install the new belt in the reverse order of removal.

1. Remove the alternator/compressor belt. See «ALTERNATOR/COMPRESSOR BELT»(ref-153574-S19307996872003070200000).
2. Remove the auto-tensioner. see scheme 22(1999-2001 models) or (Scheme 15) (2002-04 models).
3. Clean the tensioner and pivot bolt "A" and clean the threads of the pivot bolt hole "B" with a tap. (Scheme 16)(2002-04 models).
4. Install the auto-tensioner in the reverse order of removal (1999-2001 models).
5. Install the auto-tensioner and tighten the mounting bolt "C". Screw the pivot bolt in by hand until it is finger-tight (2002-04 models).
6. After tightening, tighten the pivot bolt in two steps (45° per step). (Scheme 17)(2002-04 models).

Removal & Installation

Remove the pulley bolt (left handed threads), and replace the tensioner pulley. (Scheme 18)(1999-2001 models).
