A/F Sensor Replacement

Special Tools Required

O2 Sensor Wrench Snap-on S6176 or equivalent, commercially available

Scheme 596

Scheme 596: A/F Sensor Replacement
  1. Disconnect the A/F sensor 4P connector (A), then remove the A/F sensor (B). (Scheme 596): Identifying A/F Sensor 4P Connector And A/F Sensor With Torque Specification
  2. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

Secondary HO2S Replacement

Special Tools Required

O2 Sensor Wrench Snap-on S6176 or equivalent, commercially available

Scheme 597: Secondary HO2S Replacement
  1. Raise the vehicle on a lift.
  2. Disconnect the secondary HO2S 4P connector (A). (Scheme 597): Identifying Secondary HO2S 4P Connector And Secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) With Torque Specification
  3. Remove the secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) (B).
  4. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Disconnect the connector (A) and the hoses (B) from the EVAP canister purge valve (C), then remove the EVAP canister purge valve assembly. (Scheme 598): Identifying Connector, Hoses And EVAP Canister Purge Valve With Torque Specification
  2. Disconnect the CMP sensor B connector (A). A- (Scheme 599): Identifying CMP Sensor B Connector And CMP Sensor With Torque Specification
  3. Remove CMP sensor B (B).
  4. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (C).

Scheme 600

Scheme 600: CKP Sensor Replacement
  1. Raise the vehicle on a lift. NOTE: Make sure the vehicle is level, because engine oil will drip out when you remove the sensor.
  2. Remove the CKP sensor cover (A). (Scheme 600): Identifying CKP Sensor Cover, CKP Sensor Connector And CKP Sensor With Torque Specifications
  3. Disconnect the CKP sensor connector (B).
  4. Remove the CKP sensor (C).
  5. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (D).
  6. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure (see «CKP PATTERN CLEAR/CKP PATTERN LEARN»(ref-371358-S02143075042010091000000) ).
  7. Check the engine oil level, and add more oil if needed.

  1. Disconnect the MAP sensor connector (A). (Scheme 601): Identifying MAP Sensor Connector And MAP Sensor With Torque Specification
  2. Remove the MAP sensor (B).
  3. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (C).

Scheme 602: MAF Sensor/IAT Sensor Replacement
  1. Disconnect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor connector (A). (Scheme 602): Identifying MAF Sensor/IAT Sensor Connector, Screws And MAF Sensor/IAT Sensor With Torque Specification
  2. Remove the screws (B).
  3. Remove the MAF sensor/IAT sensor (C).
  4. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (D).

Scheme 603

Scheme 603: ECT Sensor 1 Replacement
  1. Drain the engine coolant (see «COOLANT CHECK»(ref-371337-S12927460352010091000000) ).
  2. Disconnect the ECT sensor 1 connector (A). (Scheme 603): Identifying ECT Sensor 1 Connector And ECT Sensor 1 With Torque Specification
  3. Remove ECT sensor 1 (B).
  4. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (C), then refill the radiator with engine coolant (see «COOLANT CHECK»(ref-371337-S12927460352010091000000) ).

  1. Remove the front splash shield, (see «FRONT SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT»(ref-371366-S37249269372010091000000) )
  2. Drain the engine coolant (see «COOLANT CHECK»(ref-371337-S12927460352010091000000) ).
  3. Disconnect the ECT sensor 2 connector (A), then remove ECT sensor 2 (B). (Scheme 604): Identifying ECT Sensor 2 Connector, ECT Sensor 2 And O-Ring With Torque Specification
  4. Install ECT sensor 2 with a new O-ring (C).
  5. Install the front splash shield, (see «FRONT SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT»(ref-371366-S37249269372010091000000) )
  6. Refill the radiator with engine coolant (see «COOLANT CHECK»(ref-371337-S12927460352010091000000) ).

Scheme 605: Knock Sensor Replacement
  1. Remove the intake manifold (see «INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-371348-S34260719232010091000000) ).
  2. Disconnect the knock sensor connector (A). (Scheme 605): Identifying Knock Sensor Connector And Knock Sensor With Torque Specification
  3. Remove the knock sensor (B).
  4. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

PCM Replacement

Special Tools Required

  1. Honda diagnostic system (HDS) tablet tester
  2. Honda Interface Module (HIM) and an iN workstation with the latest HDS software version
  3. HDS pocket tester
  4. GNA600 and an iN workstation with the latest HDS software version

Any one of above updating tools can be used.

  1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard. (Scheme 606): Identifying Data Link Connector (DLC) Location
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the PCM and other vehicle systems. If it doesn't, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting (see «DLC CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-371365-S24678253492010091000000) ). If you are returning from DLC circuit troubleshooting, skip steps 4 through 9, 19 through 25, and 28 through 30, and do this after replacing the PCM; Replace the engine oil (see «ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT»(ref-371342-S30440727742010091000000) ) and the engine oil filter (see «ENGINE OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT»(ref-371342-S26106735712010091000000) ). Replace the ATF (see «ATF REPLACEMENT»(ref-371338-S09977727542010091000000) ). Clean the throttle body (see «THROTTLE BODY CLEANING»(ref-371363-S36777773282010091000000) ).
  4. Select the PGM-FI system with the HDS.
  5. Select the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.
  6. Select the ETCS TEST, then select the TP POSITION CHECK, and follow the screen prompts. NOTE: If the TP POSITION CHECK indicates FAILED, continue with this procedure.
  7. Select the REPLACE PCM MENU, then select READ DATA and follow the screen prompts. NOTE: Doing this step copies (READS) the engine oil life data from the original PCM so you can later download (WRITES) it into the new PCM. If READ DATA indicates FAILED, continue with this procedure.
  8. Select the A/T system with the HDS.
  9. Select the REPLACE TCM/PCM MENU, then select READ DATA and follow the screen prompts. NOTE: Doing this step copies (READS) the ATF life data from the original PCM so you can later download (WRITES) it into the new PCM. If READ DATA indicates FAILED, continue with this procedure.
  10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  11. Remove the under-hood fuse/relay box (A). (Scheme 607): Identifying Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box, Harness Bracket And Battery Hold Down Bolt
  12. Remove the harness bracket (B).
  13. Loosen the battery hold down bolt (D), and reposition the battery away from the PCM.
  14. Remove the PCM cover (C).
  15. Remove the bolts (D), then remove the PCM (E). (Scheme 608): Identifying Bolts, PCM And PCM Connectors With Torque Specification
  16. Disconnect PCM connectors A, B, and C. NOTE: PCM connectors A, B, and C have symbols (A=[], B=delta, C=o) embossed on them for identification.
  17. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
  18. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  19. Manually input the VIN to the PCM with the HDS. NOTE: DTC P0630 VIN Not Programmed or Mismatch may be stored because the VIN has not been programmed into the PCM; ignore it, and continue this procedure.
  20. If the READ DATA (engine oil life) failed in step 8, go to step 23. Otherwise, go to step 21.
  21. Select the PGM-FI system with the HDS.
  22. Select the REPLACE PCM MENU, then select WRITE DATA, and follow the screen prompts. NOTE: If the WRITE DATA indicates FAILED, continue with this procedure.
  23. If the READ DATA (ATF life) failed in step 10, go to step 25. Otherwise go to step 24.
  24. Select the A/T SYSTEM with the HDS.
  25. Select the REPLACE TCM/PCM MENU, then select WRITE DATA, and follow the screen prompts. NOTE: If the WRITE DATA indicates FAILED, continue with this procedure.
  26. Select the IMMOBI system with the HDS.
  27. Enter the immobilizer PCM code that you got from the iN, and use the PCM replacement procedure in the IMMOBI MENU of the HDS; it allows you to start the engine.
  28. If the TP POSITION CHECK failed in step 6, clean the throttle body (see «THROTTLE BODY CLEANING»(ref-371363-S36777773282010091000000) ), then go to step 29.
  29. If the READ DATA failed in step 7 or the WRITE DATA failed in step 22, replace the engine oil and the engine oil filter (see «ENGINE OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT»(ref-371342-S26106735712010091000000) ), then go to step 30.
  30. If the READ DATA failed in step 10 or the WRITE DATA failed in step 25, replace the ATF (see «ATF REPLACEMENT»(ref-371338-S09977727542010091000000) ), then go to step 31.
  31. Select the PGM-FI system, and reset the PCM with the HDS.
  32. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «PCM Update»(ref-371365-S16561949192010091000000) ).
  33. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-371368-S30599352662010091000000) ).
  34. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure (see «CKP PATTERN CLEAR/CKP PATTERN LEARN»(ref-371358-S02143075042010091000000) ).
