DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

Note. For Passport, refer to Isuzu Rodeo in STEERING COLUMN article in ISUZU.

A 2-piece safety steering column with slip-joint flange connection is used. Steering column is supported by a column tube and steering lock assembly. All models are equipped with driver's side air bag.

WARNINGTo avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Deactivate air bag system before performing any repairs. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .

AIR BAG SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK

Turn ignition on. SRS or AIR BAG indicator light should remain on for about 6 seconds and then go off. If indicator light operates as specified, air bag system is functioning properly. If indicator light does not illuminate, does not go off after about 6 seconds or stays on while driving, inspect air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.
