ENGINE WILL NOT START

Note. If engine will not start, MIL always or never illuminates, and no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are set, check MIL circuit. Intermittent Simulation

To reproduce conditions creating an intermittent problem, use following methods

  1. Lightly vibrate component.
  2. Carefully heat component using a hair dryer.
  3. Wiggle or bend wiring harness.
  4. Spray component with water mist.
  5. Remove/apply vacuum source.

Monitor circuit/component voltage or resistance while simulating intermittent problem. If engine is running, monitor for self-diagnostic codes. Use test results to identify a defective component or circuit.
