CHECKING FLUID LEVEL

Note. Some applications may be equipped with a separate dipstick and tube assembly in addition to a fill hole/plug. Fluid checking procedure is the same for both applications.

Ensure vehicle is on level surface and at normal operating temperature. Turn engine off. Within one minute after turning engine off, remove transaxle dipstick and wipe it clean. Re-insert dipstick into filler hole or dipstick tube and check fluid level. Fluid level should be between upper and lower marks on dipstick.

On CVT transmissions, use Genuine Honda CVT fluid only. On all other models, use Honda Premium Formula ATF. Use of non-Honda ATF can affect shift performance.

DRAINING & REFILLING

  1. Ensure transaxle is at normal operating temperature (cooling fan comes on). Remove transaxle drain plug to drain fluid. Install NEW plug gasket. Tighten drain plug to 36 ft. lbs (49 N.m).
  2. Add fluid through dipstick hole. Start engine. Move gear selector through all selector positions 3 times. Ensure each gear engages. With gear selector in "N" or "P" position, let transaxle fluid warm to normal operating temperature. Turn engine off. Check fluid level. Add enough fluid to bring level to upper mark on dipstick.
