Removal & Installation

See appropriate ELECTRONIC CONTROLS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove left instrument panel trim panel. Apply parking brake. Shift transmission to first gear (automatic transmission only). Tilt steering wheel to full down position. Pull rearward gently on instrument panel bezel. Set instrument panel bezel aside.
2. Remove knee bolster screws. Unsnap knee bolster and set aside. Disconnect Brown BCM connector first. Remove remaining BCM connectors. Remove BCM from sliding bracket.
3. To install, slide BCM into bracket. Reconnect all connectors EXCEPT Brown BCM connector. Reconnect Brown BCM connector last. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. To reprogram BCM, see «PROGRAMMING»(ref-8996-S21728475512000100200000) .

Remove right side interior rear quarter trim panel. Disconnect Suspension Control Module (SCM) harness connectors. Remove mounting screw. Slide SCM out of bracket. To install, reverse removal procedure. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Following instructions on scan tool display, recalibrate SDM.
