The parking assist control module has detected the voltage at the sensor circuit is greater than 11.5 V or the object sensor is not grounded.

The parking assist control module has detected the voltage at the sensor circuit less than 0.5 V.
B0958 08, B0959 08, B0960 08, or B0961 08
The parking assist control module has received an invalid signal.

The object sensor determines no change in the position of an object while the vehicle is in motion.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
- The parking assist is disabled.
- The driver information center displays SERVICE PARK ASSIST.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
Circuit/System Testing
- Doors closed, ignition OFF for 30 seconds, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate B78 rear object sensor.
- Test for less than 30 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground. If greater than the specified value, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K41R rear parking assist control module.
- Ignition ON, test for 6.3-10.4 V between the 8 V reference circuit terminal 1 and ground. If less than the specified range, test the 8 V reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K41R rear parking assist control module. If greater than the specified value, test the 8 V reference circuit for a short to voltage. If circuit tests normal, replace the K41R rear parking assist control module.
- Ignition OFF, remove the malfunctioning object sensor and swap locations with another properly functioning rear object sensor. Connect the harness connector at both sensors.
- Ignition ON, verify the DTC is set for the new location in which the malfunctioning sensor is installed. If the DTC does not set for the new location, test the signal circuit terminal 3 at the original location where DTC set for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K41R rear parking assist control module.
- If the DTC sets for the new location in which the malfunctioning sensor is installed, replace the appropriate B78 rear object sensor.

- Lane departure warning is disabled.
- SERVICE LANE DEPARTURE SYSTEM is displayed on the driver information center.
The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K109 Front View Camera Module and at the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left. It may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Test for infinite resistance between the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left control circuit terminal 5 and ground. If less than infinite resistance Repair the short to ground on the circuit. If infinite resistance
- Ignition ON.
- Test for less than 1 V between the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left control circuit terminal 5 and ground. If greater than 1 V Repair the short to voltage on the circuit. If less than 1 V
- Ignition OFF.
- Test for less than 2 ohms in the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left control circuit terminal 5 end to end. If 2 ohms or greater Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. If less than 2 ohms
- Test for infinite resistance between the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left control circuit terminal 4 and ground. If less than infinite resistance Repair the short to ground on the circuit. If infinite resistance

The front view camera module detects a malfunction.
- The front view camera module is disabled.
- The front view camera module disable history buffer stores information why the system was disabled.
The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
Diagnostic Aids
The front view camera module disable history buffers are used to store information about the front view camera module features that are disabled. The Buffers will only update if the disable condition changes.
Example: If the data received from the steering wheel angle sensor is Invalid across many ignition cycles then it will only appear in 1 history buffer and not all history buffers. If this condition is the current reason why the front view camera module is disabled then it will be set in front view camera module disable history buffer 1. If a new reason occurs, such as vehicle speed validity is invalid, then the invalid steering wheel angle sensor fault will shift into disable history buffer 2 and vehicle speed validity invalid will be in disable history buffer 1. Since there are only 4 disable history buffers, the invalid steering wheel angle sensor will age out if 4 other disable reasons occur since the last invalid steering wheel angle sensor event occurred. Front view camera module disable history buffer 1 contains the current reason that one of the front view camera module features is disabled.
The front view camera module disable history buffers can display the following values

- Verify the scan tool Front View Camera Module Disable History displays no current malfunction. Refer to Diagnostic Aids above. If a current malfunction is displayed, diagnose the system that sets the malfunction.

If the circuit tests normal, replace the K41 Parking Assist Control Module.

- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at each of the object sensors.
- Ignition ON, transmission in REVERSE, test for 6.3-10.4 V between the 8 V reference circuit terminal 1 at the rear object sensor harness connector and ground. If less than the specified range, test the 8 V reference circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear object alarm module. If greater than the specified range, test the 8 V reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear object alarm module.
- Install each object alarm sensor harness connector one at a time, checking DTCs after each sensor is connected. Verify DTC B1405 is not set as current. If the DTC is set, replace the object alarm sensor that was connected immediately before the DTC set.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the rear object alarm module.

- Lane departure warning is disabled.

The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
- Ignition OFF, remove the ignition key, open the driver door, disconnect the scan tool, all vehicle systems OFF, this may take up to 2 min.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left ground circuit terminal 7 and ground. If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Vehicle Direction Warning Switch Status parameter is OPEN. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K109 Frontview Camera Module.
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground circuit terminal 7. Verify within 10 s the scan tool Vehicle Direction Warning Switch Status parameter is CLOSED. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal for a short to battery or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K109 Frontview Camera Module.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
Visual/Physical Inspection
- Inspect for aftermarket devices which may affect the operation of the system. Refer to «Checking Aftermarket Accessories»(ref-491170-S38135034022012073000000) .
- Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which may cause the symptom.
- Make sure the parking assist sensors located on the vehicle front and rear bumper are clear. Remove any snow, mud or ice that is blocking the sensors.
- Make sure the rear vision camera is clear. Remove any snow, mud or ice that is blocking the rear vision camera.
- Make sure the front view camera is clear. Remove any dust from the lens and the windscreen that is blocking the front view camera.

Certain factors will affect the operation of the lane departure warning system. When the system is operating properly, the green lane departure warning indicator will illuminate on the instrument cluster. This indicates that all of the required operating conditions to permit lane departure warning have been met. The green lane departure warning indicator will not appear when the system is having difficulty seeing the lines on the road or if the view of the front view camera is blocked with mud, dirt, snow, ice, or slush, if the windshield is damaged, or when weather limits visibility, such as while driving in fog, rain, or snow conditions. This is normal operation, the vehicle does not need service. Additionally, lane departure warnings may occasionally occur in a properly operating vehicle due to tar marks, shadows, cracks in the road, or other road imperfections. This is normal system operation and the vehicle does not require service. The driver information center may also display Lane Departure System Unavailable due to the temporary conditions listed above.
Additionally, the Front View Camera Disable History can give useful hints about what affected the operation of the lane departure warning system. For the Front View Camera Disable History, please refer to DTC B1011 .
Lane Departure Warning Switch Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, remove the ignition key, open the driver door and disconnect the scan tool, all vehicle systems OFF, this may take up to 2 min.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left ground circuit terminal 7 and ground. If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Lane Departure Warning Switch Status parameter is OPEN. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K109 Front View Camera Module.
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground circuit terminal 7. Verify within 10 s the scan tool Lane Departure Warning Switch Status parameter is CLOSED. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal for a short to battery or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K109 Front View Camera Module.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
Lane Departure Warning Switch Indicator Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, remove the ignition key, open the driver door and disconnect the scan tool, all vehicle systems OFF, this may take up to 2 min.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
- Test for 6.2-10.9 V DC between the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left BCM pwm reference circuit terminal 4 and ground. If not the specified value, test the circuit for a short to ground or short to voltage.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the K109 Front View Camera Module, reconnect the harness connector at the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
- Ignition ON, observe the lane departure warning switch indicator. The indicator should be OFF. If the indicator is always ON, test the control circuit terminal 5 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
- Ignition OFF, install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the K109 Front View Camera Module harness connector indicator control circuit terminal 4 and ground. The indicator should be ON. If the indicator is always OFF, test the control circuit terminal 4 for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the K109 Front View Camera Module.

| 1. Forward Collision Alert timing sensitivity not adjustable. | ||||
Certain factors will affect the operation of the forward collision alert system. Forward collision alert does not warn the driver of any objects that are not detected as a vehicle, like e.g. pedestrians, animals, signs, guard rails, bridges, construction barrels or other stationary or slow moving objects. In some cases the camera may detect a vehicle that is not in the path ahead, or the system may occasionally provide unrealistic alerts. This could respond to a turning vehicle ahead, guard rails, traffic signs, or other stationary objects. This is normal operation, the vehicle does not need service. When the system is operating properly, the green vehicle ahead alert indicator will illuminate on the vehicle direction display when the system detects a vehicle in the path ahead. This indicates that all of the required operating conditions are met. The green vehicle ahead alert indicator will not appear when the system is having difficulty seeing other vehicles on the road or if the view of the front view camera is blocked with mud, dirt, snow, ice, or slush, if the windshield is damaged, or when weather limits visibility, such as while driving in fog, rain, or snow conditions. This is normal operation, the vehicle does not need service.
Additionally, the Front View Camera Disable History can give useful hints about what affected the operation of the lane departure warning system. For the Front View Camera Disable History please refer to DTC B1011 .
Note. You must perform the Circuit/System Verification before proceeding with Circuit/System Testing.
Forward Collision Alert System Malfunction
- Verify no DTCs are set. If any DTCs are set, diagnose those first. Refer to «Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle»(ref-491140-S28645929192012073000000) .
- Ignition OFF, remove the ignition key, open the driver door and disconnect the scan tool, all vehicle systems OFF, this may take up to 2 min.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the K109 Frontview Camera Module.
- Connect a test lamp between the K109 Frontview Camera Module B+ circuit terminal 3 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K109 Frontview Camera Module.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 1 and ground. If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K109 Frontview Camera Module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the forward collision alert switch signal circuit terminal 10 and ground with the forward collision alert switch not pressed. If less than infinite resistance, test the switch signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
- Test for 1.2-1.4 kohms between the forward collision alert switch signal circuit terminal 10 and ground with the forward collision alert switch pressed. If greater than the specified value, test the switch signal circuit for an open high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S70L Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the K109 Frontview Camera Module.

When the "Park Assist Off" or "Service Park Assist" message is displayed in the DIC the disable reason is stored in the Park Assist Disable History.
The scan tool Park Assist Disable History parameters are a list of the previous reasons the parking assist system was disabled. These parameters may help in the diagnosis of an intermittent concern or a customer concern which is the result of normal system operation. The following is a brief description of potential causes which may aid in diagnosis
- 3Disable - The parking assist system has been disabled through the audio system personalization menu.
- Hitch/Object Attached - The parking assist control module is detecting an object that is attached to the vehicle. Common items such as a hitch receiver, trailer, object hanging out of tailgate, lowered tailgate, or a bicycle rack may cause this concern. If the customer does have a ball mount attached to the factory hitch, then refer to Owners Manual and "Vehicle Personalization" to enable "Towbar" option. Additionally, damage to the rear of the vehicle or a misaligned sensor may cause this concern. If the vehicle is damaged in a manner that causes the sensor to detect the bumper itself, the parking assist control module will interpret this as an attached object and disable the system. Carefully inspect the bumper, bumper mounting surface, and sensor retainers before continuing with normal diagnosis. After the detected cause has been addressed the vehicle must be driven at speed greater than 40 km/h (25 MPH).
- Reverse Overspeed - The vehicle is travelling too fast in reverse at speeds of greater than 8 km/h (5 mph).
- Inhibit - The parking assist control module has lost or received invalid GMLAN signal(s).
- Sensor Disturbance - An outside interference is causing sensor movement. Such interference may be caused a heavy pounding, like that of a nearby jackhammer, or large changes in pressure, such as a large truck's air brakes.
- Sensor Ring Time - If the sensor fails its own diagnostic initialization the parking assist control module will set this error. After the detected cause has been addressed the vehicle must be driven at speed greater than 40 km/h (25 mph). The following is a list of reasons this cause may have set: One or more of the sensors may be blocked by snow, mud, ice, or other debris. This might happen after going through a car wash in cold weather. Silicone insulator surrounding sensor maybe missing, cut, or twisted. Improperly installed sensor, sensor maybe be crooked due to a tight wire harness. One or more of the sensors may be scratched or the paint maybe chipped. Excessive paint thickness on a sensor may cause an excessive sensor ring time. When replacing or refinishing a sensor, do not apply an excessive amount of paint or clear coat.
Manual Transmission
- Engine running, transmission in REVERSE.
- Verify the scan tool Calculated Transmission Range parameter is Reverse. If parameter is not Reverse Refer to «Backup Lamps Malfunction»(ref-491150-S12833467992012073000000) . If parameter is Reverse
- Verify the scan tool Park Assist System Status parameter displays Enable.
- If status is not Enable Refer to Diagnostic Aids and the scan tool Park Assist Disable History parameters to determine the cause of the inhibit. If status is Enable
- Replace the K41 Parking Assist Control Module.
Automatic Transmission
- Engine running, transmission in REVERSE.
- Verify the scan tool Park Assist System Status parameter displays Enable.
- If status is not Enable Refer to Diagnostic Aids above and the scan tool Park Assist Disable History parameters to determine the cause of the inhibit. If status is Enable
- Replace the K41 Parking Assist Control Module.
- Perform the «Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle»(ref-491140-S24065023222012073000000) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

A poor video image can be caused by ice, snow, and mud buildup on the lens of the rearview camera. Also, extreme lighting conditions can affect performance, such as operating in the dark or with bright sunlight shining on the camera. Extreme high or low temperatures can also affect the image quality. An open in the shield of the video signal circuit can also cause a distorted screen.
Note. Circuit/System Verification must be performed before Circuit/System Testing.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rearview camera.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 5 and ground. If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 6 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Engine running, park brake applied, transmission in REVERSE, test for greater than 11 V between the control circuit terminal 3 and ground. If less than the specified value, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X4 harness connector at the A11 Radio.
- Ignition ON, test for less than 0.3 V between the following signal circuit terminals at the rearview camera harness connector and ground: Signal (+) circuit terminal 1 Signal (-) circuit terminal 4 If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Test for infinite resistance between the following circuit terminals at the rearview camera harness connector and ground: Signal (+) circuit terminal 1 Signal (-) circuit terminal 4 If not the specified value, test the circuit for a short to ground.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the signal (+) circuit terminal 1 at the rearview camera harness connector and the signal (+) circuit terminal 5 X4 at the A11 Radio harness connector. If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the signal (-) circuit terminal 4 at the rearview camera harness connector and the signal (-) circuit terminal 15 X4 at the A11 Radio harness connector. If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the rearview camera.
- Engine running, transmission in REVERSE, verify a clear rear vision image is displayed on the radio. If a clear rear vision image is not displayed, replace the A11 Radio.
