Conditions for Running the DTC
The power mirror is being commanded left, right, up, or down.
Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 (RPO DS3) or X2 (RPO W49) harness connector at the outside rearview mirror.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and the control circuit terminal 6.
- Ignition ON, commanded the mirror left and right using the mirror directional switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF as the mirror commanded to the left and right. If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuits for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate door switch. If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate door switch.
- Ignition OFF, install a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and the control circuit terminal 6.
- Ignition ON, commanded the mirror up and down using the mirror directional switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF as the mirror commanded up and down. If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuits for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate door switch. If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate door switch.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the outside rearview mirror motor.

Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the appropriate outside rearview mirror.
- Ignition OFF, wait 1 minute, test for less than 1.0 ohm between the low reference circuit terminal 10 and ground. If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate door switch.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal 7 and ground. If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch. If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 4 and the 5-volt reference circuit terminal 7. Verify the scan tool Mirror Vertical Position parameter is greater than 4.8 volts. If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 5 and the 5-volt reference circuit terminal 7. Verify the scan tool Mirror Horizontal Position parameter is greater than 4.8 volts. If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 4 and the low reference circuit terminal 10. Verify the scan tool Mirror Vertical Position parameter is less than 0.2 volt. If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 5 and the low reference circuit terminal 10. Verify the scan tool Mirror Horizontal Position parameter is less than 0.2 volt. If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the appropriate outside rearview mirror motor.

If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch. If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
An improper voltage level is seen on either the folding mirror motor retract control circuit or the folding mirror motor extend control circuit.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
Power folding mirror operations are suspended as long as the fault is present.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
- A current DTC will clear when the fault is no longer present.
- A history DTC will clear after 40 fault-free ignition cycles.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the appropriate outside rearview mirror.
- Connect a test lamp between control circuit terminal 1 and control circuit terminal 2.
- Command the Mirror Fold to Retract and Extend with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the retract and extend states. If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands, test for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance on either control circuit. If the circuits test normal, replace the door module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the outside rearview mirror.
Visual/Physical Inspection
- Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the system. Refer to «Checking Aftermarket Accessories»(ref-365275-S25618774722010070600000) .
- Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom.

Mirror Position Sensor Circuit Test

Mirror Motor Circuit Test
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 (RPO DS3) or X2 (RPO W49) harness connector at the outside rearview mirror.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and the control circuit terminal 6.
- Command the mirror left and right using the mirror directional switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF as the mirror commanded to the left and right. - Disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate outside rearview mirror.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and the control circuit terminal 6.
- Operate the vertical switch UP and DOWN. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the UP and DOWN states. If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands, test for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance on the control circuits. If the circuits test normal, replace the power mirror switch.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and the control circuit terminal 6.
- Operate the horizontal switch LEFT and RIGHT. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the LEFT and RIGHT states. If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands, test for a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance on the control circuits. If the circuits test normal, replace the power mirror switch.

- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the outside rearview mirror.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and the control circuit terminal 6.
- Command the mirror left and right using the mirror directional switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF as the mirror commanded to the left and right. If the test lamp is always ON, test both control circuits for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate door switch. If the test lamp is always OFF, test both control circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and the control circuit terminal 6.
- Command the mirror up and down using the mirror directional switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF as the mirror commanded up and down. If the test lamp is always ON, test both control circuits for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch. If the test lamp is always OFF, test both control circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the outside rearview mirror motor.
