Heater System: Removal & Installation Geo Tracker I

Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove 2 hinge pins and glove box door. Disconnect blower motor and blower motor resistor wiring harness connectors. Disconnect fresh/recirculate air control cable from blower motor case.
  2. Disconnect wiring harness from guide brackets on blower motor case. Remove blower motor case from vehicle. Remove blower motor from blower case. Remove nut attaching fan to blower motor. Remove fan from blower motor. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect negative battery cable. On Tracker, remove 2 hinged pins and glove box door by removing 2 hinged pins. On all models, disconnect blower resistor connector. Remove screw and resistor. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove heater control panel knobs. Remove heater control panel front plate and illumination bulb from instrument panel. Remove center console bezel. Remove 2 hinged pins and glove box door. Disconnect blower switch connector. Remove blower speed selector switch from heater control panel. To install, reverse removal procedure.

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove lower steering column cover panel. Remove steering wheel nut and washer. Mark position of steering wheel on shaft, and remove steering wheel using puller. Remove 2 screws and lower steering column trim panel.
  2. Remove upper and lower steering column covers. Disconnect combination switch connector. Remove combination switch. Remove instrument cluster bezel and cluster from instrument panel. Disconnect all connectors and speedometer from instrument cluster.
  3. Disconnect A/C switch connector (if equipped). Remove heater control lever knobs. Remove instrument panel center trim bezel. Remove heater control panel. Remove ashtray and ashtray guide. Remove 4 screws and instrument panel center trim bezel. Remove instrument panel handle from passenger-side of instrument panel. Disconnect antenna lead from radio.
  4. Ensure all wiring harness connectors that are necessary to remove instrument panel are disconnected. Pull instrument panel from support member. Detach defroster ducts, and remove instrument panel. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Remove instrument panel. See INSTRUMENT PANEL. Drain coolant from cooling system. Disconnect all cables and ducts from heater case. Remove heater case from vehicle. Remove screws and clips from heater case. Separate heater case into halves (if necessary). Remove heater core from case. To install, reverse removal procedure.
