Steering Columns: Diagnosis Ford Windstar I

PRELIMINARY INSPECTION

1. Check the length of the steering column shaft to be sure it has not been partially collapsed by a previous collision. If the steering column shaft length is not within 574.1-576.1 mm (22.60-22.68 in.), replace the steering column. See «STEERING COLUMN (TILT)»(ref-141798-S05277620902002071000000) .
2. Check the steering column bushing and the steering column bearing for damage or excessive wear. If either the steering column bushing or the steering column bearing needs replacement, the steering column must be replaced. See «STEERING COLUMN (TILT)»(ref-141798-S05277620902002071000000) .
