Scheme 1: Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Locator

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a 17-digit combination of letters and numbers. The VIN is located on the top upper left of the dash. The VIN is also found on the Vehicle Identification Label (VIL) label.

If the VIN plate requires replacement, authorized dealers must contact their respective regional office.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI)

The first 3 VIN positions are the WMI .

  1. NM0 - Ford Motor Company, Turkey, truck

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and Restraint Type

The fourth VIN position is the vehicle Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and restraint type code.

  1. 8 - Active safety belts (all positions) with driver only front and side restraints (Postal unit)
  2. K - 4,001-5,000 lb GVWR , active safety belts (all positions), driver and front passenger air bags with driver and front passenger side impact air bags
  3. L - 5,001-6,000 lb GVWR , active safety belts (all positions), driver and front passenger front and side restraints

Vehicle Line, Series and Body Type

Positions 5 through 7 indicate vehicle line, series and body type.

Engine Type

The eighth VIN position identifies the engine type, displacement and number of cylinders.

  1. N - Duratec - 2.0L, 4-cylinder
  2. 4 - 350 amp, 72 volt electric motor

Check Digit

The ninth VIN position is a government-assigned, computer-generated check digit.

Model Year

The tenth VIN position is the model year code.

  1. B - 2011

Assembly Plant

The eleventh VIN position is the assembly plant code.

  1. T - Kocaeli Assembly Plant, Turkey

Production Sequence Number

The last 6 VIN positions are a numeric code for the vehicle build sequence. This is also the vehicle serial and warranty number.

The serial number can also be found on the engine block, transmission and frame.

Scheme 3: Vehicle Identification Label (VIL) Locator

The Vehicle Identification Label (VIL) contains the manufacturer name, the month and year of manufacture and the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). It also includes Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and tire information.

If a vehicle requires replacement of the VIL and is 4 years old or less, an authorized dealer must submit the VIN to their respective regional office. The regional office will submit a web form to the assembly plant for the replacement label. Once the label has been printed, a representative from the regional office will deliver the label to the dealer and witness installation on the vehicle. If a vehicle is more than 4 years old and requires a replacement label, the dealer must submit a request to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Paint Code

Paint codes may be listed as a 2-part code. The first set of paint code numbers/letters indicate the vehicle primary body color. The second set of letters/numbers (if applicable) indicate a 2-tone or accent body color.

  2. D3 - Torch Red
  3. TY - Moon Dust Silver
  4. UE - Panther Black Metallic
  5. UV - Blazer Blue
  6. Z2 - Frozen White

Wheelbase Code

The applicable wheelbase code(s) is as follows

  1. 2896 - 2896 mm (114 in)

Interior Trim Codes

The interior trim codes are listed as a 2-part code. The first digit listed indicates the seat and fabric style. The second digit listed indicates the interior trim color.

Trim Codes

  1. E - Vinyl seats
  2. 8 - Lattice/Twill cloth seats

Tape/Paint Codes

Tape and paint stripe codes do not apply.

Radio Codes

Available radio type codes are as follows

The following lists the available axle ratios

  2. 42 - 4.20 ratio
