Removal

Note. If a seat equipped with a seat mounted side air bag and/or a safety belt pretensioner (if equipped) system is being serviced, the supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be depowered.

Note. The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the RCM fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.

Note. The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

1. Position the seat rearward.
2. Remove the seat front trim covers.
3. Remove the front bolts.
4. Move the seat forward.

6. Remove the seat rear trim covers.
7. Remove the nuts.
8. Disconnect the seat side air bag module electrical connector.

7. Position the seat rearward.
8. Install the seat front bolts.

2. Release the tab and disconnect the power seat track electrical connector.
3. Remove the recliner handle.
4. Remove the side shield screw.
5. Carefully pull out on the outer side shield releasing the two hidden clips (shown) to the inner side shield and the two hidden clips to the recliner mechanism.
6. Remove the outer side shield. Carefully pull out on the side of the outer side shield releasing the clips to the inner side shield and one hidden clip at the side of the seat cushion frame. Carefully pull forward on the side shield releasing the hidden clip at the front of the seat cushion frame. While routing the wire harness out of the seat cushion frame, slide the side shield forward to clear the recliner handle and remove the outer side shield.
7. Remove the screws and the switch.

1. Position the switch and install the screws.
2. Position the inner side shield to the seat.
3. Install the outer side shield to the seat. NOTE: Route the power seat (if equipped) switch wire harness through the side of the seat while positioning the outer side shield to the seat. Position the outer side shield to the seat and push in where indicated to install the retaining clips. Squeeze the inner and outer side shields together to seat the clips.
4. Install the outer side shield screw.
5. Install the recliner handle.
6. Connect the power seat track electrical connector (if equipped).

1. Remove the affected seat and depower the SRS. For additional information, refer to «FRONT SEAT»(ref-233750-S32880420972006052600000) .
2. Release the tab and disconnect the power seat track electrical connector.
3. Remove the recliner handle.
4. Remove the side shield screw.
5. Carefully pull out on the outer side shield releasing the two hidden clips (shown) to the inner side shield and the two hidden clips to the recliner mechanism.
6. Remove the outer side shield. Carefully pull out on the side of the outer side shield releasing the clips to the inner side shield and one hidden clip at the side of the seat cushion frame. Carefully pull forward on the side shield releasing the hidden clip at the front of the seat cushion frame. While routing the wire harness out of the seat cushion frame (if equipped), slide the side shield forward to clear the recliner handle and remove the outer side shield.
7. Remove the inner side shield.
8. Release the Velcro® at the side of the seat cushion trim cover, near the safety belt buckle.
9. Pull and remove the manual lumbar adjustment knob.
10. From under the seat cushion frame, turn the manual lumbar mechanism counterclockwise and separate it from the seat cushion frame.
11. Release the manual lumbar adjustment screw. From inside the lumbar adjustment mechanism, push the screw stop in toward the center. While pushing the screw stop toward the center, rotate the lumbar adjustment mechanism counterclockwise. The screw stop will pass clear of the internal stop, releasing the manual lumbar adjustment screw.
12. Remove the manual lumbar cable. Continue turning the manual lumbar mechanism counterclockwise until the cable support comes out. Push the screw out enough to remove the cable end.
13. Route the manual lumbar cable out from between the seat track and seat cushion frame.
14. Separate the side air bag module wire harness from the underside of the seat cushion frame. Remove the pin-type retainers from the seat cushion frame. Release the retaining tab and slide the side air bag module electrical connector from the bracket.
15. Remove the side air bag module wire harness retaining clip (if equipped) from the side of the seat track, and the pivot bolt.
16. Remove the seat back from the seat cushion. Remove the recliner-to-seat track bolts. Remove the seat back with the recliner from the seat cushion.

1. Align the recliner with seat back frame to the seat track, and install the bolts.
2. Install the pivot bolt.
3. Route and clip the side air bag module wiring harness (if equipped) to the seat track.
4. Route the side air bag wiring harness to the underside of the seat cushion frame. Slide the side air bag wiring harness electrical connector onto the retaining tab. Install the side air bag wiring harness pin-type retainers into the seat cushion frame.
5. Route the manual lumbar cable. Route the manual lumbar cable in front of the pivot bolt and in the channel created between the seat cushion frame and seat track bracket. Position the manual lumbar cable through the opening between the seat cushion frame and the seat track.
6. Assemble the manual lumbar mechanism until the manual lumbar cable support can be installed. Position the manual lumbar cable end into the screw end. Push the screw in and turn the manual lumbar mechanism clockwise drawing the screw in. Push the cable support back into the manual lumbar mechanism.
7. Position the manual lumbar mechanism into the seat cushion frame and turn it clockwise to lock it into position.
8. Install the manual lumbar mechanism adjustment knob.
9. Reposition the seat cushion trim cover near the safety belt buckle and connect the Velcro®.
10. Position the inner side shield to the seat.
11. Install the outer side shield to the seat. NOTE: Route the power seat (if equipped) switch wire harness through the side of the seat while positioning the outer side shield to the seat. Position the outer side shield to the seat and push in where indicated to install the retaining clips. Squeeze the inner and outer side shields together to seat the clips.
12. Install the outer side shield screw.
13. Install the recliner handle.
14. Connect the power seat track electrical connector.
15. Install the affected seat and repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to «FRONT SEAT»(ref-233750-S32880420972006052600000) .
16. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to «SAFETY BELT SYSTEM»(ref-233766) .

2. Remove the bolts.
3. Remove the safety belt anchor and buckle assembly. Remove the retaining nut. Remove the safety belt anchor and buckle assembly.
4. Push up at the split and remove the seat backrest safety belt guide.
5. Remove the seat backrest. Lift up and remove the seat backrest while feeding the safety belt and buckle through the seatback.

1. Apply pressure to the lower front portion of the rear seat cushion pad and frame. Push the rear seat cushion pad and frame rearward to disengage the rear seat cushion front retainers. Lift upward on the rear seat cushion and remove.
2. Remove the safety nut and the belt anchor and buckle assembly.
3. Pull the two release handles to unlock the seat backrest and fold down the seat backrest.
4. Push up at the split and remove the seat back safety belt guide.
5. Remove the seat back. Position the seat back panels down. Remove the retaining bolts. Lift up and remove the seat back while feeding the safety belt and buckle through the seat back.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
7. Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
8. Check the restraint system for correct operation.

Note. If a seat equipped with a seat mounted side air bag and/or a safety belt pretensioner (if equipped) system is being serviced, the supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be depowered.

1. Position the seat track. Install the bolts.
2. Install the safety belt buckle and pretensioner. Position the safety belt buckle and pretensioner onto the seat track bracket. Align the safety belt buckle and pretensioner mounting bracket slot so that the seat track bracket anti-rotation tab goes through it. Install the nut.
3. Route the safety belt buckle and pretensioner electrical connector and wire harness between the seat cushion frame and the seat track.
4. Connect the seat motor and safety belt buckle pretensioner electrical connectors.
5. Install the seat backrest. For additional information, refer to «FRONT SEAT BACKREST»(ref-233750-S18776554102006052600000) .
6. Install the affected seat and repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to «FRONT SEAT»(ref-233750-S32880420972006052600000) .

1. Move the seat so the front and rear vertical motors are positioned in the middle of their travel.
2. If the seat cannot be moved, a new seat track assembly must be installed. Remove the front seat and depower the SRS. For additional information, refer «FRONT SEAT»(ref-233750-S32880420972006052600000) .
3. Remove the seat track. For additional information, refer to «SEAT TRACK - POWER»(ref-233750-S32503828282006052600000) .
4. Disconnect the seat track motor electrical connector. To change the seat track horizontal position, apply power and ground to the pins shown.
5. Position the seat track horizontally by applying power and ground to the seat track motor pins. Position the outboard track most of the way forward so that two teeth are showing next to the outboard retainer clip and a flat spot on the drive tube is positioned upward.
6. Mark the position of the outboard track C-channel to the plastic coated slide as shown.
7. Mark the position of the inboard track C-channel to the plastic coated slide as shown.
8. Remove the seat position sensor. Remove the screw. Remove the retaining arm. Rotate the seat position sensor counterclockwise and remove the sensor.
9. Remove the two nuts at the lift links.
10. Clamp the locking pliers on the flats of the drive tube where it reaches over the inboard track gear stub shaft. Tap on the locking pliers, separate the drive tube from the seat track motor assembly stub shaft and remove the inboard track and drive tube.
11. Remove the two nuts.
12. Remove the outboard retainer clip.
13. Remove the two bolts holding the seat track motor assembly to the outboard track.
14. Carefully pry between the seat track motor assembly and the outboard track and remove the outboard track.
15. Carefully pry and remove the two support straps.
16. Pry and remove the seat track motor assembly from the upper support assembly.

1. Position the new and old seat track motor assembly side by side. Position the new seat track motor assembly stub shaft flat spots (splines) in the same position as the old seat track motor assembly flat spots. If necessary, apply power and ground to the new seat track motor electrical connector as shown during removal to obtain the same position.
2. Install the seat track motor assembly to the upper support assembly. NOTE: Make sure the motor is positioned right side up. Install the seat track motor assembly pivots through the front and rear height adjustment gear brackets. Apply multi-purpose grease to the motor pivots. Mesh the seat track motor assembly gears to the front and rear height adjustment gears. There should not be a gap between the upper support assembly gears and the seat track motor assembly housing.
3. Install the support straps. The support straps must fit flush against the front and rear height adjustment gears.
4. Check to make sure the index marks on the outboard track C-channel and plastic coated slide are still in alignment.
5. Position the pinion cage onto the outboard track.
6. Install the outboard track. Position the track studs through the seat track motor assembly. While sliding the track studs through the seat track motor assembly, position the pinion cage opening around the seat track motor assembly gear. Fit the support straps and seat track motor assembly gear bushing alignment pins into the track openings.
7. When assembled, make sure the outboard track, support straps, front and rear height adjustment gears and seat track motor assembly all fit flush against each other. Make sure the support straps and seat track motor assembly gear bushing alignment pins fit into the track openings.
8. Install the two bolts holding the seat track motor assembly to the outboard track.
9. Install the two nuts.
10. Install the outboard retainer clip.
11. Check to make sure the index marks on the outboard track C-channel and plastic coated slide are still in alignment. The index marks on the outboard track C-channel and plastic coated slide must align at this step. If the index marks do not match up, repeat Steps 1 through 10.
12. Check to make sure the index marks on the inboard track C-channel and plastic coated slide are still in alignment.
13. Assemble the seat track motor assembly, upper support assembly and inboard track together. Align the drive tube to the motor stub shaft. Tap the nose of the inboard track gear toward the seat track motor stub shaft. Positioning a block of metal or wood behind the motor gear can aid assembly. While tapping the parts together, simultaneously engage the front and rear lift links to the inboard track. When the lift links are up against the inboard track, with the bushings through the hole and seated, the drive tube is fully engaged.
14. Install the nuts holding the inboard track to the upper support assembly lift links.
15. Check to make sure the index marks on the inboard track C-channel and plastic coated slide are still in alignment. The index marks on the inboard track C-channel and plastic coated slide must align at this step. If the index marks do not match up, repeat Steps 12 through 14.
16. Position the seat track in the vehicle. The left and right front mounting feet holes should align with the floor pan mounting holes, without pushing or pulling the seat track to force alignment. Check the witness marks (indentations) in the carpet. The tracks should line up closely with them. If the seat track does not align to the vehicle, check to make sure the index marks on the inboard and outboard track rails and guides are still in alignment. Repeat the necessary steps until the index marks align.
17. Install the seat position sensor. Position the seat position sensor and rotate clockwise to install. Install the retaining arm. Install the screw.
18. Install the seat track. For additional information, refer to «SEAT TRACK - POWER»(ref-233750-S32503828282006052600000) .
19. Install the seat and repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to «FRONT SEAT»(ref-233750-S32880420972006052600000) .
20. Cycle the driver seat through its full range of travel forward and backward to reset the seat position sensor.

1. Install the seat cushion.

3. Install the seat backrest. For additional information, refer to «FRONT SEAT BACKREST»(ref-233750-S31547902512006052600000) .
4. Install the front seat and repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to «FRONT SEAT»(ref-233750-S32880420972006052600000) .
5. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to «SAFETY BELT SYSTEM»(ref-233766) .

Removal and Installation

6. Remove the inner side shield.
7. Unclip the J-clip.
8. Position the upholstery and pad, then remove the two recliner-to-backrest bolts.
9. Remove the two recliner-to-seat track bolts and recliner.

1. Position the recliner to the seat track and install the two bolts.
2. Align the backrest to the recliner and install the two bolts.
3. Position the upholstery and fasten the J-clip.
4. Position the inner side shield to the seat.
5. Install the outer side shield to the seat. NOTE: Route the power seat (if equipped) switch wire harness through the side of the seat while positioning the outer side shield to the seat. Position the outer side shield to the seat and push in where indicated to install the retaining clips. Squeeze the inner and outer side shields together to seat the clips.
6. Install the outer side shield screw.
7. Install the recliner handle.
8. Repower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING»(ref-233728) .
