TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

The instrument panel consists of the following components

  1. A/C registers
  2. ashtray
  3. defroster grille
  4. demisters
  5. glove compartment
  6. instrument cluster
  7. instrument panel finish panels
  8. integrated control panel (ICP)
  9. passenger side air bag module
  10. steering column cover

Console - Overhead

The overhead console consists of the following components

  1. passenger compartment rear view mirror
  2. sunglass storage compartment
  3. garage door opener storage compartment
  4. overhead lamp
  5. map lamps
  6. map lamp switches
  7. message center

If equipped with a roof opening panel, the overhead console consists of the following components

  1. map lamps/interior lamps
  2. map lamp switches
  3. message center
  4. roof opening panel switch

Both the long and the short overhead consoles are held in place with spring clips.

Console - Floor

The two types of consoles available are the floor console, or the mini console.

The floor console consists of the following components

  1. arm rest
  2. coin holder
  3. console assembly
  4. cup holder (front)
  5. cup holder (rear)
  6. rear A/C outlets

The mini console consists of the following components

  1. arm rest/back rest assembly
  2. seat cushion/utility tray assembly
  3. storage tray
  4. cup holders (rear)

  1. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING»(ref-233728) in SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
  2. If equipped with a floor console transmission range selector lever, remove the selector lever. For additional information, refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS»(ref-233741) .
  3. Remove the front door scuff plates.
  4. Position the front door weather-strips aside.
  5. Remove the windshield side garnish moldings.
  6. Remove the defroster grille. If equipped, disconnect the sunload/headlamp sensor electrical connector.
  7. Remove the 3 instrument panel cowl top bolts.
  8. Release the parking brake cable from the parking brake actuator. Release the cable from the parking brake actuator. Release the cable conduit from the parking brake actuator.
  9. Remove the parking brake release handle. Remove the retainer clip. Remove the parking brake release handle.
  10. Disconnect the smart junction box (SJB). Loosen the bulkhead connector bolt. Disconnect the bulkhead connector.
  11. Loosen the bolts and disconnect the bulkhead electrical connectors.
  12. Separate the intermediate shaft from the steering column. Remove the pinch bolt. Separate the intermediate shaft from the steering column.
  13. If equipped with a steering column selector lever, disconnect the transmission shift cable. Disconnect the cable from the steering column shift tube lever. Disconnect the cable from the steering column bracket.
  14. Remove the pin-type retainers and the passenger side instrument panel insulator.
  15. Vehicles with electronic air temperature control (EATC), disconnect the air tube, vacuum connector, main climate control and blower motor speed control electrical connectors.
  16. Vehicles without EATC, disconnect the vacuum connector, blower motor, blend door and thermal resistor electrical connectors.
  17. Remove the 2 instrument panel side finish panels.
  18. Remove the 4 instrument panel cowl side bolts.
  19. Remove the instrument panel.
  20. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-233724) .
  2. Apply the parking brake.
  3. If equipped with floor selector lever, position the selector lever in 1.
  4. Remove the integrated control panel (ICP). For additional information, refer to «AUDIO UNIT»(ref-233752) .
  5. Remove the instrument panel lower steering column cover. Remove the bolts. Remove the instrument panel lower steering column cover.
  6. Remove the ashtray.
  7. Remove the instrument panel center finish panel. Remove the screws. Remove the instrument panel center finish panel. Disconnect the electrical connector by reaching through the ICP opening.
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. If equipped, remove the compact disc (CD) changer. For additional information, refer to «AUDIO UNIT»(ref-233752) .
  2. If equipped, remove the floor console storage bin.
  3. Remove the floor console bolts.
  4. Remove the floor console finish panel.
  5. Remove the two side floor console bolts.
  6. Remove the floor console.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
