REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

WARNINGVehicle is equipped with an air bag system. System MUST be disabled before working near steering column and instrument cluster to prevent air bag deployment. See the article AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section.
CAUTIONWhen battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove arm and blade assembly. Remove cowl vent grille. Disengage wiper linkage from wiper motor output arm.
  2. Remove wire harness bracket. Remove motor mounting bolts. Disconnect ground wire. Unplug electrical connector. Remove wiper motor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Adjust wiper arms as necessary. See WIPER ARM ADJUSTMENT under ADJUSTMENTS.

Disable air bag system. Remove air bag module. See the article AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. Remove steering wheel. Separate upper and lower steering column covers. Remove ignition lock cylinder. Remove bulb from lower cover. Remove clockspring. Remove canceling cam and spring. Remove switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.
