REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Remove hush panels from under instrument panel. Unplug connector on blower motor. Remove 3 screws from blower motor. Pull blower motor from case. (Scheme 1) To install, reverse removal procedure.

Remove hush panels from under instrument panel. Unplug connector on blower motor resistor. Remove 2 screws, and remove resistor. (Scheme 1) To install, reverse removal procedure.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove floor console. Remove 2 screws on lower edge of control console bezel. Pull control console bezel from instrument panel. Remove 3 control panel screws, and pull control panel from instrument panel. Disconnect electrical connectors and vacuum harness. Disengage temperature cable clip, and disconnect cable from control panel. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Disconnect heater hoses at firewall. Remove instrument panel. See INSTRUMENT PANEL. Remove evaporator-to-blower unit nut. Remove wiring harness screws. Remove 3 heater case screws. Pull heater case from firewall. Remove 4 heater core access cover screws. Pull heater core from case. To install, reverse removal procedure. Fill and leak test cooling system.
- Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 90 seconds for backup power supply to be depleted. Disconnect both passenger side air bag diagnostic module connectors located under left instrument panel pad. Remove glove compartment. Remove glove compartment upper cover. Disconnect passenger side air bag module Blue and Orange connectors. Remove 4 passenger air bag bolts and push air bag up from inside instrument panel. DO NOT handle air bag by its edges or pull on wires. WARNING: Carry live air bag module with air bag and trim cover pointed away from your body. When air bag module is placed on a work bench or other surface, ensure air bag and trim cover is pointing up, away from surface. NOTE: When installing air bag module, ensure guide pins are inserted into guide holes. Tighten passenger air bag module bolts to 23-33 INCH lbs. (2.6-3.7 N.m). Connect battery and verify air bag warning light is working.
- Remove hood release lever. Remove lower hush panels and steering column cover. Remove steering column mounting bolts. Lower steering column. Remove 5 instrument cluster bezel screws, and remove bezel. Remove 4 instrument cluster screws, and pull instrument cluster out far enough to unplug electrical connectors. Remove instrument cluster.
- Remove glove box, if not already removed. Remove floor console. Remove heater control panel. See CONTROL PANEL. Remove instrument panel side covers, and remove instrument panel mounting bolts. Remove 4 lower instrument panel mounting bolts. Remove "A" pillar trim. Tip instrument panel up for access and disconnect necessary electrical connectors. Remove instrument panel. To install, reverse removal procedure.
