Removal and Installation

  1. If equipped, remove the 4 nuts and the strut tower cross brace. To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  2. Remove the engine appearance cover. Boss® 302 vehicles
  3. Remove the 4 nuts and the strut tower cross brace. To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  4. Remove the nut, the pin-type retainer and the LH engine shield. To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). All vehicles
  5. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-574143) .
  6. Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge valve electrical connector.
  7. Disconnect the vapor tube-to-EVAP canister purge valve quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) . All vehicles except Boss® 302
  8. Remove the 2 bolts and the EVAP canister purge valve. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Boss® 302 vehicles
  9. Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve-to-intake manifold quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) .
  10. Remove the EVAP canister purge valve from the bracket. All vehicles
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Carry out the «EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST»(ref-574179-S36789475272013082300000) . For additional information, refer to «EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST»(ref-574179-S36789475272013082300000) .

  1. Remove the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister. For additional information, refer to «EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CANISTER»(ref-574179-S02031965592013082300000) .
  2. Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid electrical connector.
  3. NOTE: The EVAP canister nuts and bolts must be discarded and new ones installed. Remove and discard the 3 EVAP canister nuts and 3 bolts. To install, tighten the new nuts and bolts to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
  4. Separate the EVAP canister and tray to access the EVAP canister vent solenoid.
  5. NOTE: EVAP canister tray and fuel vapor tubes removed from graphic for clarity. Depress the locking tab outward, rotate the EVAP canister vent solenoid clockwise and remove it from the EVAP canister.
  6. NOTE: Do not apply oil to the EVAP canister O-ring seal. Clean water may be applied to aid reassembly. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Carry out the «EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST»(ref-574179-S36789475272013082300000) .   1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-574118) .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-574143) . Coupe vehicles
  3. Detach the fuel vapor tube retainer clip from the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister tray. Convertible vehicles
  4. Detach the 2 fuel vapor tube retainer clips from the rear body.
  5. Detach the 2 fresh air hose retainer clips from the rear body. All vehicles
  6. NOTE: Clean the EVAP canister electrical connector and the immediate surrounding area of any dirt or foreign material. Disconnect the EVAP canister electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainer from the EVAP canister tray.
  7. Disconnect the 2 fuel vapor tube quick connect couplings from the EVAP canister. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) .
  8. Detach the fresh air hose from the 2 retainer clips.
  9. Remove the 2 EVAP canister assembly bolts.
  10. Remove the 2 nuts and the EVAP canister assembly.
  11. NOTE: New service EVAP canister assemblies are equipped with tinnerman washers. If the original EVAP canister assembly will be reinstalled, remove and discard any damaged tinnerman washers from the EVAP canister tray flange.

Installation

  1. If necessary, install new tinnerman washers onto the EVAP canister tray flange.
  2. Install the EVAP canister assembly and the 2 nuts. Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
  3. Install the 2 EVAP canister assembly bolts. Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
  4. NOTE: The fresh air hose must be attached to the retainer clip at the colored band to provide the designed clearance between the fresh air hose and exhaust components. Failure to follow these instructions may damage the fresh air hose. Align the colored band on the fresh air hose with the retainer clip and attach the hose. Attach the fresh air hose to the remaining retainer clip.
  5. Connect the 2 fuel vapor tube quick connect couplings to the EVAP canister. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) .
  6. Connect the EVAP canister electrical connector and attach the wiring harness retainer to the EVAP canister tray. Convertible vehicles
  7. Attach the 2 fresh air hose retainer clips to the rear body.
  8. Attach the 2 fuel vapor tube retainer clips to the rear body. Coupe vehicles
  9. Attach the fuel vapor tube retainer clip to the EVAP canister tray. All vehicles
  10. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-574143) .
  11. Carry out the «EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST»(ref-574179-S36789475272013082300000) . For additional information, refer to «EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST»(ref-574179-S36789475272013082300000) .

  4. Disconnect the fuel vapor tube assembly-to-Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister vapor tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) .
  5. Disconnect the fuel vapor tube assembly-to-fuel tank quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) .
  6. Disconnect the fuel vapor tube assembly-to-fuel tank filler pipe recirculation tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) .
  7. Release the fuel vapor tube assembly separator clips.
  8. Detach the fresh air hose from the 2 retainer clips.
  9. Disconnect the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor electrical connector.
  10. Detach the fuel vapor tube assembly retainer clip from the rear body.
  11. Remove the bolt and the fuel vapor tube assembly.
  1. Install the fuel vapor tube assembly and the bolt. Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
  2. Attach the fuel vapor tube assembly retainer clip to the rear body.
  3. Connect the FTP sensor electrical connector.
  4. NOTE: The fresh air hose must be attached to the retainer clip at the colored band to provide the designed clearance between the fresh air hose and exhaust components. Failure to follow these instructions may damage the fresh air hose. Align the colored band on the fresh air hose with the retainer clip and attach the hose. Attach the fresh air hose to the remaining retainer clip.
  5. Attach the fuel vapor tube assembly separator clips.
  6. Connect the fuel vapor tube assembly-to-fuel tank filler pipe recirculation tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) .
  7. Connect the fuel vapor tube assembly-to-fuel tank quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) .
  8. Connect the fuel vapor tube assembly-to-EVAP canister vapor tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-574171) .
  9. NOTE: Coupe shown in illustration, convertible similar. Attach the fuel vapor tube assembly to the retainer clip.
  10. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-574143) .
