Removal

Note. Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage to the module may result.

Note. Prior to the replacement of the module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to a scan tool. This information must be downloaded into the new Smart Junction Box (SJB) after installation. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION to carry out Programmable Module Installation (PMI).

Note. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) functionality is integral to the SJB.

Note. A new SJB is delivered in a "manufacturing mode" with 8 pre-set DTCs. A successful configuration of the SJB, then a successful TPMS sensor training, then a successful self-test including the clearing of all DTCs is required in order to clear the 8 pre-set manufacturing mode DTCs. The 8 manufacturing mode DTCs are

1. B106D (Tire Pressure Monitor System [TPMS] Initiators Not Configured) - This DTC is present when the SJB is not configured, even on applications that are not equipped with initiators.
2. B2477 (Module Configuration Failure)
3. B2868 (Left Front Tire Pressure Sensor Fault)
4. B2869 (Right Front Tire Pressure Sensor Fault)
5. B2870 (Right Rear Tire Pressure Sensor Fault)
6. B2871 (Left Rear Tire Pressure Sensor Fault)
7. B2A21 (One or More Configuration Files Missing or Corrupt)
8. C2780 (ECU in Manufacturer Sub-State)

1. NOTE: This step is only necessary if the SJB is being replaced. Upload the module configuration information from the SJB into the scan tool. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-574112) .
2. Turn the key to the OFF position.
3. Remove the RH A-pillar lower trim panel.
4. NOTE: It may be necessary to push the red lock tab downward and press the 2 black tangs inward to release the B+ connector. Disconnect the 7 electrical connectors.
5. Remove the nut and the SJB.

Installation

1. Position the SJB and install the nut. Tighten the nut to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
2. NOTE: It may be necessary to push the red lock tab upward after installing the B+ connector. Connect the 7 SJB electrical connectors.
3. NOTE: If the SJB is not being replaced, this is the last step that is necessary. Install the RH A-pillar lower trim panel.
4. NOTE: DTC B2276 may be set, indicating there are less than 2 transmitters programmed to the SJB. For additional information, refer to «HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS»(ref-574159) . Download the SJB configuration information from the scan tool to the SJB. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-574112) .
5. Train the tire pressure sensors. For additional information, refer to «WHEELS AND TIRES»(ref-574121) .
6. NOTE: The SJB DTC C2780 will not clear if any other DTCs are still present in the SJB. NOTE: This step is required to clear the SJB DTC C2780, allow the SJB to exit the manufacturing mode, and to make sure there are no other concerns with the newly programmed SJB. Carry out the SJB self-test (must include an on-demand self-test) and then repeat the self-test to confirm all SJB DTCs have been cleared.
7. Rotate the instrument panel dimmer switch from the full dim position to the dome ON position. This will ensure that all displays are visible under all lighting conditions.

Note. Prior to the removal of the module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to a scan tool. This information must be downloaded into the new Body Control Module B (BCM-B) after installation. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .

1. NOTE: If the BCM-B is being replaced, follow this step. If the BCM-B is not being replaced, go to Step 2. Upload the module configuration information from the BCM-B into the scan tool. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-574112) .
2. From the right side of the luggage compartment, remove the pushpin and position aside the RH luggage compartment trim cover.
3. Remove the BCM-B bracket assembly nuts and position the assembly for access to the BCM-B. Vehicle with navigation remove 4 nuts. Vehicle without navigation remove 3 nuts.
4. Disconnect the 2 BCM-B electrical connectors.
5. Remove the 2 nuts and the BCM-B.

1. Position the BCM-B on the BCM-B bracket and install the 2 nuts.
2. Connect the 2 BCM-B electrical connectors.
3. Position the BCM-B bracket assembly in place. Vehicle with navigation install the 4 nuts, tightening the rear nuts first. Vehicle without navigation install the 3 nuts, tightening the rear nuts first.
4. Position the RH luggage compartment trim cover and install the pushpin.
5. NOTE: If the BCM-B is being replaced, follow this step. If the BCM-B is not being replaced, the procedure is complete. Download the module configuration information from the scan tool into the BCM-B. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-574112) .
6. Carry out the BCM-B self-test (must include an on-demand self-test) and then repeat the self-test to confirm all BCM-B DTCs have been cleared.
