- Verify the customer concern.

- If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
- If the cause is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC) and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle: check that the program card is correctly installed. check the connections to the vehicle. check the ignition switch position.
- If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, GO to «PINPOINT TEST O»(ref-255276-S37308405152007053000000) .

- A2 CHECK THE HIGH SPEED CAN CIRCUITS BETWEEN THE DLC AND THE DEM FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between the DEM C3269-8, circuit 1908 (WH), harness side and the DLC C251-6, circuit 1908 (WH), harness side; and between the DEM C3269-7, circuit 1909 (BK), harness side and the DLC C251-14, circuit 1909 (BK), harness side. Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? Yes: GO to A3 . No: REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. CARRY OUT the data link diagnostics test.
- A3 CHECK FOR CORRECT DEM OPERATION Disconnect all the DEM connectors. Check for: corrosion pushed-out pins Connect all the DEM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
