PINPOINT TEST A: THE COURTESY LAMPS DO NOT ILLUMINATE WITH A DOOR OPEN

  1. A1: CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE COURTESY LAMP FUNCTION FROM THE FRONT/DRIVER INTERIOR LAMP Ignition OFF. Use the courtesy lamp switch on the front interior lamp to activate the overhead courtesy lamps. Do the overhead courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes: GO to A2 No: GO to «Pinpoint Test B»(ref-516017-S11661127912012120400000)
  2. A2 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH OPERATION Deactivate the overhead courtesy lamps from the front interior lamp. Disconnect: Suspect Door Latch. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes: For a front door, INSTALL a new front door latch. REFER to: «FRONT DOOR LATCH»(ref-516028-S31343318572012120400000) (Vehicles Without: One-Touch Up Door Window) . or REFER to: «FRONT DOOR LATCH»(ref-516020-S19160901842012120400000) (Vehicles With: One-Touch Up Door Window) . For a rear door, INSTALL a new rear door latch. REFER to: «REAR DOOR LATCH»(ref-516028-S33863187322012120400000) (Vehicles Without: One-Touch Up Door Window) . or REFER to: «REAR DOOR LATCH»(ref-516020-S38365809472012120400000) (Vehicles With: One-Touch Up Door Window) . No: GO to A3
  3. A3 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect: BCM C2280B. Measure: LH FRONT DOOR AJAR SWITCH Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C525-3 ohms - RH FRONT DOOR AJAR SWITCH Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C609-6 ohms - LH REAR DOOR AJAR SWITCH Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C705-3 ohms - RH REAR DOOR AJAR SWITCH Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C805-6 ohms - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to A4 No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. A4 CHECK FOR CORRECT BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to: «BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)»(ref-515973-S25219396702012120400000) . No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

  1. Verify BCM fuse 60 (10A) is OK.

  1. B1: CHECK THE DOOR AJAR PARAMETER IDENTIFICATIONS (PIDS) Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, view the BCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs). Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_LR, DOOR_SW_PSGR, DOOR_SW_LR and DOOR_SW_RR Parameter Identifications (PIDs) while opening and closing all the doors. Do all the door ajar switch Parameter Identification (PID) values agree with the door positions? Yes: GO to B2 No: GO to «Pinpoint Test A»(ref-516017-S38869648052012120400000)
  2. B2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF ALL THE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMPS Open a door and observe the interior courtesy lamps. Are all the interior courtesy lamps inoperative? Yes: VERIFY the BCM fuse 60 (10A) is OK. If OK, GO to B3 If not OK, REFER to the OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. No: If all of the overhead courtesy lamps are inoperative, GO to B3 If both footwell lamps are inoperative, GO to B8 If an individual footwell lamp is inoperative (without ambient lighting), GO to B9 If only the front interior lamp is inoperative (without a roof opening panel), INSTALL a new interior lamp. If only the LH front interior lamp is inoperative (with a roof opening panel), INSTALL a new interior lamp. If the rear lamp (without a roof opening panel) is inoperative, GO to B9 If the RH front or a rear lamp (with a roof opening panel) is inoperative, GO to B9 If the RH front, and rear lamp (with a roof opening panel) are both inoperative, GO to B15
  3. B3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE FRONT/DRIVER COURTESY LAMP Close the door. Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Front Interior Lamp C931 (without a roof opening panel). Disconnect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 (with a roof opening panel). Ignition ON. Open a door. Measure: FRONT INTERIOR LAMP (WITHOUT A ROOF OPENING PANEL) Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C931-1 - LH FRONT INTERIOR LAMP (WITH A ROOF OPENING PANEL) Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C908-1 - Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: GO to B5 No: GO to B4
  4. B4 BYPASS THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) (INTERIOR LIGHT RELAY) Ignition OFF. Connect: Front Interior Lamp C931 (without a roof opening panel). Connect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 (with a roof opening panel). Disconnect: BCM C2280F. Connect: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280F-12 Battery Positive Ignition ON. Open any door. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to B20 No: REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the courtesy lamp voltage supply circuit for an open.

B5 CHECK THE FRONT/DRIVER COURTESY LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: FRONT INTERIOR LAMP (WITHOUT A ROOF OPENING PANEL) Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C931-1 C931-5 LH FRONT INTERIOR LAMP (WITH A ROOF OPENING PANEL) Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C908-1 C908-5 Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?   6. B6 BYPASS THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) GROUND CONTROL Ignition OFF. Connect: Front Interior Lamp C931 (without a roof opening panel). Connect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 (with a roof opening panel). Disconnect: BCM C2280H. Connect: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280H-11 - Ignition ON. Open any door. Do the courtesy lamps illuminate? Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to B20 No: LEAVE the jumper wire connected. GO to B7
  7. B7 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP GROUND CONTROLLED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Disconnect: Front Interior Lamp C931 (without a roof opening panel). Disconnect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 (with a roof opening panel). Measure: FRONT INTERIOR LAMP (WITHOUT A ROOF OPENING PANEL) Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C931-1 C931-4 LH FRONT INTERIOR LAMP (WITH A ROOF OPENING PANEL) Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C908-1 C908-4 Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new interior lamp. No: REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit.
  8. B8 CHECK THE FOOTWELL LAMP GROUND CONTROLLED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. Disconnect: BCM C2280C. Connect: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280C-21 - Ignition ON. Do the footwell lamps illuminate? Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to B20 No: REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit.
  9. B9 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMP Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Inoperative Interior Lamp. Ignition ON. Measure: LH INCANDESCENT FOOTWELL LAMP Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C209-1 - RH INCANDESCENT FOOTWELL LAMP Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C266-1 - LH LED FOOTWELL LAMP Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2056-1 - RH LED FOOTWELL LAMP Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2057-1 - RH FRONT INTERIOR LAMP (WITH A ROOF OPENING PANEL) Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C903-1 - REAR INTERIOR LAMP Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C901-1 - Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?   11. B11 CHECK THE PASSENGER/REAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR REFERENCE VOLTAGE Open any door. Measure: RH FRONT INTERIOR LAMP (WITH A ROOF OPENING PANEL) Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C903-4 - REAR INTERIOR LAMP Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C901-4 - Is the voltage between 4 and 6 volts? Yes: INSTALL a new rear interior lamp. No: For vehicles equipped with a roof opening panel, REPAIR the passenger/rear lamp control circuit for an open. For vehicles not equipped with a roof opening panel, GO to B12
  12. B12 CHECK THE REAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Front Interior Lamp C931. Ignition ON. Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C931-2 - Is any voltage present? Yes: REPAIR the circuit. No: GO to B13
  13. B13 CHECK THE REAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C931-2 ohms - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to B14 No: REPAIR the circuit.
  14. B14 CHECK THE REAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C931-2 ohms C901-4 Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: INSTALL a new front interior lamp. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  15. B15 ISOLATE THE PASSENGER INTERIOR LAMP Close the door. Ignition OFF. Disconnect: RH Front Interior Lamp C903. Open any door. Does the rear interior lamp illuminate? Yes: INSTALL a new RH front interior lamp. No: GO to B16
  16. B16 ISOLATE THE REAR INTERIOR LAMP Close the door. Ignition OFF. Connect: RH Front Interior Lamp C903. Disconnect: Rear Interior Lamp C901. Open any door. Does the RH front interior lamp illuminate? Yes: INSTALL a new RH front interior lamp. No: GO to B17
  17. B17 CHECK THE PASSENGER/REAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Close the door. Disconnect: RH Front Interior Lamp C903. Disconnect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908. Ignition ON. Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C908-2 - Is any voltage present? Yes: REPAIR the circuit. No: GO to B18
  18. B18 CHECK THE PASSENGER/REAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C908-2 ohms - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to B19 No: REPAIR the circuit.
  19. B19 CHECK THE PASSENGER/REAR LAMP CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C908-2 ohms C901-4 Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: INSTALL a new LH front interior lamp. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  20. B20 CHECK FOR CORRECT BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the BCM connectors. PINPOINT TEST D: THE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMPS STAY ON CONTINUOUSLY

  1. D1: CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH PARAMETER IDENTIFICATIONS (PIDS) Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, monitor the BCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs). Monitor the BCM DOOR_SW_DRVR, DOOR_SW_PSGR, DOOR_SW_LR and DOOR_SW_RR Parameter Identifications (PIDs) while opening and closing all the doors. Do all the door ajar switch Parameter Identification (PID) values agree with the door positions? Yes: If equipped with footwell lamps, GO to D2 If not equipped with footwell lamps, GO to D3 No: GO to «Pinpoint Test C»(ref-516017-S24835410572012120400000)
  2. D2 CHECK THE FOOTWELL LAMP GROUND CONTROLLED CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Disconnect: BCM C2280C. Ignition ON. Do the footwell lamps continue to illuminate? Yes: REPAIR the circuit. No: GO to D3
  3. D3 ISOLATE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) Ignition OFF. Disconnect: BCM C2280H. Ignition ON. Do the interior courtesy lamps continue to illuminate? Yes: GO to D4 No: GO to D5
  4. D4 CHECK THE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMP GROUND CONTROLLED CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Front Interior Lamp C931 (without a roof opening panel). Disconnect: LH Front Interior Lamp C908 (with a roof opening panel). Measure: FRONT INTERIOR LAMP (WITHOUT A ROOF OPENING PANEL) Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C931-4 ohms - LH FRONT INTERIOR LAMP (WITH A ROOF OPENING PANEL) Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C908-4 ohms - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: INSTALL a new LH front/front interior lamp. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  5. D5 CHECK FOR CORRECT BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) OPERATION Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the BCM connectors.   1. Inspect the bulbs and make sure they are OK.
  2. Inspect the courtesy lamp operation.
  3. Inspect the interior lamp for damage.

Yes: If the luggage compartment lamp is inoperative, GO to «Pinpoint Test E»(ref-516017-S16805333172012120400000) If a vanity mirror lamp is inoperative, GO to F2 If an overhead map lamp is inoperative, GO to F4 No: GO to «Pinpoint Test B»(ref-516017-S11661127912012120400000)
  2. F2 CHECK THE VANITY MIRROR VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Inoperative Vanity Mirror Lamp. Ignition ON. Measure: LH VANITY MIRROR LAMP Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C907-1 - RH VANITY MIRROR LAMP Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C906-1 - Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: GO to F3 No: REPAIR the circuit.
  3. F3 CHECK THE VANITY MIRROR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: LH VANITY MIRROR LAMP Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C907-1 C907-2 RH VANITY MIRROR LAMP Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C906-1 C906-2 Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: INSTALL a new sun visor for the lamp in question. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. F4 CHECK THE INTERIOR LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Inoperative Lamp. Ignition ON. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.   1. H1: CHECK FOR AMBIENT LIGHTING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM Self-Test. Is DTC B1088:86, B1088:88 or B1390:87 present? Yes: GO to H2 No: GO to H7
  2. H2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE AMBIENT LIGHTING MODULE Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Overhead Console C912. Ignition ON. Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C912-8 - Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: GO to H3 No: REPAIR the ambient lighting module voltage supply circuit for an open.
  3. H3 CHECK THE AMBIENT LIGHTING MODULE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C912-8 C912-5 Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: GO to H4 No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. H4 CHECK THE LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Ignition OFF. Disconnect: BCM C2280H. Ignition ON. Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C912-6 - Is any voltage present? Yes: REPAIR the circuit. No: GO to H5
  5. H5 CHECK THE LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C912-6 ohms - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to H6 No: REPAIR the circuit.
  6. H6 CHECK THE LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C912-6 ohms C2280H-12 Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: GO to H14 No: REPAIR the circuit.

  8. H8 CHECK THE AMBIENT LIGHTING MODULE LIGHT EMITTING DIODE (LED) VOLTAGE OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. Turn the parking lamps off. Disconnect: Overhead Console C912. Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C912-16 ohms C9046-1 Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: GO to H9 No: REPAIR the circuit.
  9. H9 CHECK THE AMBIENT LIGHTING LIGHT EMITTING DIODE (LED) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect all of the ambient lighting Light-emitting Diodes (LEDs). Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C912-16 ohms - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: INSTALL a new overhead console.   11. H11 CHECK THE AMBIENT LIGHTING LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Ignition OFF. Disconnect all of the ambient lighting Light-emitting Diodes (LEDs). Ignition ON. Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C912-15 - Is any voltage present? Yes: REPAIR the circuit. No: GO to H12
  12. H12 CHECK THE AMBIENT LIGHTING LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C912-15 ohms - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to H13 No: REPAIR the circuit.
  13. H13 CHECK THE AMBIENT LIGHTING LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C912-15 ohms C3349-2 Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: INSTALL a new overhead console. REFER to: «OVERHEAD CONSOLE»(ref-515965-S06490913372012120400000) . No: REPAIR the circuit.

  5. I5 CHECK THE PUDDLE LAMP VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Disconnect: DDM C501B (left puddle lamp). Disconnect: PDM C652B (right puddle lamp). Measure: LH EXTERIOR MIRROR Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C521-8 ohms - RH EXTERIOR MIRROR Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C626-8 ohms - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to I6 No: REPAIR the circuit.
