TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

The drum brake system consists of the following components

  1. Brake drum
  2. Brake shoes
  3. Brake shoe hold-down clip
  4. Brake shoe hold-down clip pin
  5. Brake shoe retracting spring
  6. Self-adjuster
  7. Self-adjuster spring
  8. Parking brake lever
  9. Wheel cylinder
  10. Brake backing plate

  12. Bleeder screw

Note. To install a new brake drum, the wheel hub must be removed. Refer to REAR SUSPENSION .

The rear drum brake uses a pedal-actuated rear wheel cylinder to move the rear brake shoes against the brake drum. After initial setting, rear drum brake adjustment is maintained through periodic parking brake operation. For initial setting, refer to BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTMENT .
