Illuminated Entry Feature
The illuminated entry feature provides illumination of the front interior lamp when approaching the vehicle for entry.
The illuminated entry feature turns on the front interior lamp when the ignition is OFF and an UNLOCK request is received from the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter. The interior lights remain illuminated for 25 seconds after the ignition transitions out of the OFF position or a LOCK request is received.
Illuminated Exit
The illuminated exit feature provides temporary illumination of the interior lights as a convenience during exit.
The illuminated exit feature turns on the interior lights for 25 seconds when all doors are closed and the ignition switch is turned from RUN or ACC to OFF. The illuminated exit feature is turned off when any door is opened, the key is reinserted into the ignition, or 25 seconds has elapsed. Once a door is opened, the interior lighting feature assumes control of the lamps.
Theater Lighting
The theater lighting feature ramps up (turns on) the interior lights over a 0.7 second period when interior lighting activation is requested by a feature other than the panic alarm or the manual interior lighting switch. The theater lighting feature ramps down (turns off) the interior lights over a 1.7 second period when interior lighting deactivation is requested by any feature other than the panic alarm, battery saver or turning off the manual interior lighting switch.
Demand Lighting
The demand lighting feature provides illumination of a specific area of the interior when requested either directly or indirectly by the operator. The demand lamps are
- Front dome lamp
- Map lamps
- Luggage compartment lamp (sedan, 3-door and 5-door)
- Cargo lamp (wagon only)
When the operator requests a demand lamp on, and the battery saver feature has not disabled the demand lamps, the associated light turns on. When the operator requests a demand lamp off, or the battery saver feature has disabled the demand lamps, the associated light turns off. All other demand lamps are unaffected by the activation or deactivation of a particular lamp.
The demand lamps feature is operated independently of the ignition state.
Ambient Lighting
The ambient lighting feature provides illumination of the cup holders (front and rear) in the center floor console and to the front and rear footwell areas. There are a total of 7 LED lighting locations. The ambient lighting feature is only available when the parking lamps are on.
The ambient lighting module provides voltage and ground to the LEDs. There are 3 different color (red, blue and green) LEDs housed within each LED assembly. By illuminating various color combinations, the LEDs are able to produce 7 different colors of ambient light. The ambient lighting switch is an input to the ambient lighting module. With each press of the ambient lighting switch, the ambient lighting module cycles through a different color variation or turns the ambient lighting feature off. The module retains the last color setting between uses.
Battery Saver
When activated, the battery saver interrupts power to the courtesy lighting and the demand lighting. The battery saver feature timing is controlled by the generic electronic module (GEM).
To activate the battery saver feature one of the following events must occur
- The ignition is transitioned out of the OFF position.
- Any door is opened.
- The luggage compartment lid or tailgate is opened.
- The hood becomes ajar (if equipped with perimeter alarm).
- Any button on the remote keyless transmitter (RKE) transmitter is pressed.
