Acceleration Control System: Removal & Installation Ford Focus I facelift

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

  1. Remove the footwell trim panel.
  2. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the pedal.
  3. Remove the 3 nuts and the pedal assembly. To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Loosen the clamps. Disconnect the vent tube and remove the outlet pipe.
  2. Remove the accelerator control snow shield. Detach the evaporative emissions hose pin-type retainer. Remove the screw and pin-type retainer. Remove the snow shield. To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
  3. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body.
  4. Rotate the cable grommet counterclockwise and release the cable from the throttle body bracket.
  5. Detach the cable from the retainer clip.
  6. Remove the footwell trim panel.
  7. Disconnect the accelerator cable pedal grommet from the accelerator pedal.
  8. Remove the cable grommet from the bulkhead.
  9. Attach a draw cord to the accelerator cable to assist with installation. Remove the accelerator cable.
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure. The rubber grommets must be installed in the bulkhead and throttle body bracket before the accelerator cable pedal grommet is installed in the pedal.
