Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Drain the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to «REFRIGERANT SYSTEM RECOVERY»(ref-207782-S23448658332005120100000) .
2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to «DRAINING»(ref-207748-S16192908622005120100000) .
3. Using the special tool, disconnect the coolant hoses from the heater core.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Remove the instrument panel. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-207811-S29785054432005120100000) .
6. Using the special tool, disconnect the refrigerant lines from the evaporator core (pressure pipe shown from below). Discard the O-ring seals.
7. Remove the left-hand and right-hand in-vehicle crossbeam retaining bolts. Remove the blanking caps.
8. Remove the right-hand air ducts.
9. Remove the in-vehicle crossbeam right-hand retaining bolts. Unclip the wiring harness from the in-vehicle crossbeam (one shown).
10. Remove the left-hand air ducts.
11. Detach the central junction box (CJB) from the in-vehicle crossbeam.
12. Remove the in-vehicle crossbeam left-hand retaining bolts. Unclip the wiring harness from the in-vehicle crossbeam.
13. Remove the air duct. Unclip the wiring harness from the in-vehicle crossbeam.
14. Remove the left-hand and right-hand in-vehicle crossbeam bracket (right-hand side shown). Push the in-vehicle crossbeam back.
15. Remove the rear footwell vent air ducts.
16. Unclip the wiring harness from the heater core housing.
17. Remove the heater core housing retaining nut passengers side.
18. Remove the heater core housing retaining nut drivers side.
19. Remove the heater core housing right-hand retaining nut.
20. Remove the heater core housing.

1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to «DRAINING»(ref-207748-S16192908622005120100000) .
2. Using the special tool, disconnect the coolant hoses from the heater core.
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to «FLOOR CONSOLE -- VEHICLES WITH MANUAL TRANSAXLE»(ref-207811-S03049998602005120100000) or «FLOOR CONSOLE -- VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE»(ref-207811-S21813325062005120100000) .
5. Remove the rear footwell vent air ducts.
6. Remove the footwell lower trim panel.
7. Open the glove compartment.
8. Remove the footwell vent air duct. Pull off the hose.
9. Close the glove compartment.
10. Remove the footwell trim. Remove the left-hand and right-hand retaining screws (right-hand side shown).
11. Remove the accelerator pedal. Disconnect the electrical connector.
12. Detach the rear steel clip.
13. Remove the left-hand and right-hand in-vehicle crossbeam bracket (right-hand side shown).
14. Remove the heater core air duct housing.
15. Remove the heater core housing.
16. Remove the heater core retaining bolt.
17. Remove the heater core.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Detach the floor level ventilation hose. Pull off the hose.
2. Separate the heater/heat exchanger housing parts. Undo the two bolts. Undo seven retaining tangs.
3. Remove the heat exchanger.
4. Pull out the heat exchanger.
5. Separate the heater/blower housing parts. Undo the two bolts. Undo four retaining tangs.
6. Separate the blower/recirculated air housing parts. Undo nine retaining tangs.
7. Dismantle the air recirculation housing. Release the five retaining tabs.
8. Remove the air deflector.
9. Separate the heater/evaporator housing. Undo 11 retaining tangs.
