Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

2. Disconnect the coolant hoses.
3. Remove the thermostat cover bolts.
4. Remove the thermostat.
5. Remove and discard the rubber seal.

2. Disconnect the coolant hoses and detach the thermostat housing.
3. Remove the thermostat.

2. Remove the ignition coil cover. Detach the retaining clips. Detach the coolant pipe from the retaining clip.
3. Using the special tool, disconnect the coolant hoses from the thermostat housing.
4. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts.
6. Using the special tool, detach the coolant hose from the thermostat housing and remove the thermostat housing.
7. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

8. Remove the thermostat.

3. Remove the timing belt idler pulley.
4. Disconnect the coolant pump hose.
5. Remove the coolant pump housing lower retaining bolt (shown from below for clarity).
6. Remove the coolant pump housing upper retaining bolt.
7. Remove the coolant pump housing.
8. Remove the coolant pump from the coolant pump housing. Discard the sealing ring
9. Remove and discard the sealing ring.

Note. Install a new coolant pump sealing ring.

3. Remove the four pin-type retainers from the radiator air deflector.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
6. Raise the vehicle.
7. Support the condenser and transaxle oil cooler (if equipped).
8. Disconnect the radiator upper coolant hose.
9. Disconnect the radiator lower coolant hoses.
10. Disconnect the horn electrical connector.
11. Remove the radiator support bracket bolts.
12. Remove the radiator support bracket.
13. Remove the radiator.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(ref-234418) .
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-207791) .
3. Disconnect the dual electric cooling fan electrical connectors.
4. Lift and remove the cooling fan motors and shroud from the retainer brackets and lower from the vehicle.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Remove the battery tray. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-207791) .
2. Disconnect the lower coolant hose retainer from the upper coolant hose and position aside the lower hose and retainer.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the run-on fan switch.
4. Disconnect the two electrical connector pin-type retainers from the run-on fan switch bracket and position the connectors aside.
5. Remove the retainer and the run-on fan switch and bracket.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

2. Disconnect the coolant hoses.
3. Remove the expansion tank bolt.
4. Remove the coolant expansion tank. Lift the coolant expansion tank out of the retainer.

Note. Install a new block heater.

1. Clean the inside diameter of the cylinder block bore and surface.
2. Install the block heater with the electrical connector of the block heater at the 9 o'clock position.
3. Tighten the block heater.
4. Connect the block heater electrical connector.
5. Lower the vehicle.
