SELF-DIAGNOSTICS
Note. The power window system utilizes a self-diagnostic system which may store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if a problem exists in system. DTCs may be retrieved using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, or equivalent scan tool, connected to Data Link Connector (DLC).
Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC) located below center of instrument panel. Using NGS tester, perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - EXPEDITION & NAVIGATOR article. If NGS tester displays CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, repair module communication concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - EXPEDITION & NAVIGATOR article. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Generic Electronic Module (GEM), perform TEST A: NO SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATION WITH GEM under SYSTEM TESTS.
If NGS tester displays SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform GEM self-test. If GEM DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See GEM DTC TEST INDEX table. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, perform appropriate test based on symptom. GEM DTC TEST INDEX
TEST A: NO SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATION WITH GEM
Note. After repair, clear DTCs and retest system.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below center of instrument panel. Using NGS tester, observe Generic Electronic Module (GEM) PIDs IGN_A, IGN_R, IGN_S and IGN_O/L while turning ignition switch through all positions. If PID values agree with ignition switch positions, go to next step. If PID values do not agree with ignition switch positions, repair appropriate ignition switch circuit(s). See appropriate wiring diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect central junction box 34-pin connector C243. Measure voltage between connector C243 terminal No. 11 (Tan/Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 1) If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Tan/Black wire.
- Disconnect GEM from central junction box 18-pin connector C267. Connect central junction box connector C243. Measure voltage between central junction box connector C267 terminal No. 4 (central junction box side) and ground. Measure voltage between connector C267 terminal No. 16 (central junction box side) and ground. (Scheme 1) If voltages are more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltages are 10 volts or less, replace central junction box.
- Disconnect GEM 26-pin connector C239. Measure resistance between GEM connector C239 terminal No. 26 (Black/Light Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 2) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Light Blue wire.
- Measure resistance between GEM connector C239 terminal No. 14 (Black/Light Blue wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - EXPEDITION & NAVIGATOR article. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Light Blue wire.

Note. After repair, clear DTCs and retest system.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below center of instrument panel. Using NGS tester, observe Generic Electronic Module (GEM) PIDs IGN_A, IGN_R, IGN_S and IGN_O/L while turning ignition switch through all positions. If PID values agree with ignition switch positions, go to next step. If PID values do not agree with ignition switch positions, repair appropriate ignition switch circuit(s). See appropriate wiring diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Using NGS tester, perform GEM self-tests. If no DTCs, DTC B1313 or DTC B1315 are present, go to next step. If DTC B1302 or B1304 is present, go to step 9.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, observe GEM PID BATSAV while triggering GEM active command BATTSAVR to ON and OFF. If PID value agrees with command mode, go to step 9. If PID value does not agree with command mode and displays OFFO-G, go to next step. If PID value does not agree with command mode and displays ON-B-, go to step 7.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect battery saver relay, located in central junction box. Measure voltage between battery saver relay socket terminal No. 1 and ground. see scheme 1 If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace central junction box.
- Check battery saver relay. See «MICRO RELAYS»(ref-870-S01132515072000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If battery saver relay is okay, go to next step. If battery saver relay is faulty, replace relay.
- Disconnect GEM from central junction box 18-pin connector C267. Measure resistance between central junction box connector C267 terminal No. 1 and battery saver relay socket terminal No. 2. see scheme 1and (Scheme 1). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace GEM. See «GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)»(ref-870-S36967026852000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace central junction box.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check battery saver relay. See «MICRO RELAYS»(ref-870-S01132515072000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If battery saver relay is okay, go to next step. If battery saver relay is faulty, replace relay.
- Disconnect GEM from central junction box 18-pin connector C267. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between battery saver relay socket terminal No. 2 and ground. see scheme 1 If any voltage is present, replace central junction box. If no voltage is present, replace GEM. See «GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)»(ref-870-S36967026852000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Using NGS tester, observe GEM PID ACCDLY while triggering GEM active command ACCY RLY to ON and OFF. If PID value agrees with command mode, go to step 16. If PID value does not agree with command mode and displays OFFO-G, go to next step. If PID value does not agree with command mode and displays ON-B-, go to step 14.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove accessory delay relay from central junction box. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between accessory delay relay socket terminal No. 86 and ground. see scheme 2 If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 12. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
- Remove battery saver relay. Measure resistance between battery saver relay socket terminal No. 5 and accessory delay relay socket terminal No. 86. see scheme 2and (Scheme 1). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace battery saver relay. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace central junction box.
- Check accessory delay relay. See «MINI RELAYS»(ref-870-S00607360852000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If accessory delay relay is okay, go to next step. If accessory delay relay is faulty, replace relay.
- Disconnect GEM from central junction box 18-pin connector C267. Measure internal resistance of central junction box between connector C267 terminal No. 11 and accessory delay relay socket terminal No. 85. see scheme 2and (Scheme 1). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace GEM. See «GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)»(ref-870-S36967026852000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace central junction box.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check accessory delay relay. See «MINI RELAYS»(ref-870-S00607360852000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If accessory delay relay is okay, go to next step. If accessory delay relay is faulty, replace relay.
- Disconnect GEM from central junction box 18-pin connector C267. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between accessory delay relay socket terminal No. 85 and ground. see scheme 2 If voltage is present, replace central junction box. If voltage is not present, replace GEM. See «GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)»(ref-870-S36967026852000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove one-touch down relay from central junction box. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, trigger GEM active command ACCY RLY to ON. Measure voltage between one-touch down relay socket terminal No. 85 and ground. see scheme 2 If voltage is more than 10 volts, install one-touch down relay and go to step 20. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove accessory delay relay from central junction box. Measure voltage between accessory delay relay socket terminal No. 30 and ground. see scheme 2 If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 19.
- Disconnect central junction box 34-pin connector C242. Measure voltage between central junction box connector C242 terminal No. 25 (Red/Light Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 1) If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace central junction box. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Red/Light Blue wire.
- Check accessory delay relay. See «MINI RELAYS»(ref-870-S00607360852000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If accessory delay relay is okay, replace central junction box. If accessory delay relay is faulty, replace relay.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect master window switch 7-pin connector C509. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, trigger GEM active command mode ACCY RLY to ON. Measure voltage between master window switch connector C509 terminal No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 3) If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 22.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect central junction box 34-pin connector C242. Measure resistance in Light Blue/Black wire between central junction box connector C242 terminal No. 10 and master window switch connector C509 terminal No. 2. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 3). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace central junction box. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Light Blue/Black wire.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect master window switch 7-pin connector C509. Measure resistance between master window switch connector C509 terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 3) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace master window switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire.
Scheme 3
TEST C: SINGLE WINDOW INOPERATIVE (ALL OTHER WINDOWS OPERATE)
Note. After repair, clear DTCs and retest system.
Scheme 4
- Operate power windows from each power window switch. If all windows operate properly, system is okay. If left front window does not operate, go to next step. If any other window does not operate, go to step 17.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, observe Generic Electronic Module (GEM) PIDs D_DN_SW, D_UP_SW and OTD_SW while pressing master window switch driver's window through UP, DOWN and AUTO positions. If PID values agree with switch position, go to step 8. If PID values do not agree with switch position, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect master window switch 7-pin connector C509. (Scheme 3) Using NGS tester, observe GEM PIDs D_DN_SW, D_UP_SW and OTD_SW. Connect 10-amp fused jumper wire between master switch connector C509 terminal No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and No. 5 (Gray wire), then between terminals No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and No. 7 (White/Black wire) and then between terminals No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and No. 6 (Tan/Light Blue wire). If PIDs D_DN_SW and OTD_SW indicate DOWN, and PID D_UP_SW indicates UP when jumper is connected, replace master switch. If PIDs do not indicate DOWN or UP as specified, go to next step. If any PID constantly indicates DOWN or UP, go to step 6.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect central junction box 34-pin connector C243. Measure resistance in Tan/Light Blue wire between master switch connector C509 terminal No. 6 and central junction box connector C243 terminal No. 10. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 3). Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between master switch connector C509 terminal No. 6 (Tan/Light Blue wire) and ground. Resistance should be 10 k/ohms or more. Measure resistance in White/Black wire between master switch connector C509 terminal No. 7 and central junction box connector C243 terminal No. 9. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between master switch connector C509 terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire) and ground. Resistance should be 10 k/ohms or more. Measure resistance in Gray wire between master switch connector C509 terminal No. 5 and central junction box connector C243 terminal No. 28. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between master switch connector C509 terminal No. 5 (Gray wire) and ground. Resistance should be 10 k/ohms or more. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If any resistance is not as specified, repair appropriate wire(s).
- Disconnect GEM from central junction box 18-pin connector C267. Measure central junction box internal resistance between connector C243 terminal No. 10 and connector C267 terminal No. 8 (down switch input). (Scheme 1) Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between connector C267 terminal No. 8 and ground. Resistance should be 10 k/ohms or more. Measure central junction box internal resistance between connector C243 terminal No. 9 and connector C267 terminal No. 6 (up switch input). Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between connector C267 terminal No. 6 and ground. Resistance should be 10 k/ohms or more. Measure central junction box internal resistance between connector C243 terminal No. 28 and connector C267 terminal No. 9 (one-touch down switch input). Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between connector C267 terminal No. 9 and ground. Resistance should be 10 k/ohms or more. If resistances are as specified, replace GEM. See «GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)»(ref-870-S36967026852000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If any resistance is not as specified, replace central junction box.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect central junction box 34-pin connector C243. (Scheme 1) Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between master window switch connector C509 terminal No. 6 (Tan/Light Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 3) Measure voltage between master window switch connector C509 terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire) and ground. Measure voltage between master window switch connector C509 terminal No. 5 (Gray wire) and ground. If any voltage is present, repair short to power in appropriate wire. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-870-S06668017522000031300000). If there is no voltage present, connect central junction box and go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect GEM from central junction box 18-pin connector C267. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between central junction box connector C267 terminal No. 8 and ground. (Scheme 1) Measure voltage between central junction box connector C267 terminal No. 6 and ground. Measure voltage between connector C267 terminal No. 9 and ground. If each voltage reading is more than 10 volts, replace GEM. See «GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)»(ref-870-S36967026852000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If any voltage is 10 volts or less, replace central junction box.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect left front window motor 2-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, trigger GEM active command ONE TOUCH to ON. Measure voltage between window motor connector Orange/White wire terminal and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 12. If voltage is 10 volts or less, exit GEM active command mode and go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove one-touch down relay. Measure resistance of Orange/White wire between left front window motor connector and one-touch down relay socket terminal No. 30. see scheme 2 If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 11. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Disconnect central junction box 34-pin connector C242. Measure resistance of Orange/White wire between left front window motor connector and central junction box connector C242 terminal No. 24. (Scheme 1) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace central junction box. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Orange/White wire.
- Remove accessory delay relay from central junction box. Measure resistance between one-touch down relay socket terminal No. 87 and accessory delay relay socket terminal 87. see scheme 2 If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace one-touch down relay. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace central junction box.
- Trigger GEM active command ONE TOUCH to OFF. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance of Orange/White wire between left front window motor connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 15. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Remove one-touch down relay. Measure resistance between one-touch down relay socket terminal No. 87A and ground. see scheme 2 If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace one-touch down relay. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Disconnect central junction box 34-pin connector C243. Measure resistance between central junction box connector C243 terminal No. 24 (Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 1) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace central junction box. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire. Ground point is at lower right inner cowl panel.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. While pressing master window switch to UP position, measure voltage at between left front window motor White/Black wire terminal and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair White/Black wire.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect master window switch 7-pin connector C509. Measure resistance of White/Black wire between left front window motor connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace left front window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-870-S42135680002000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace master window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-870-S33166130502000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect inoperative power window switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place master window switch remote lock-out feature in UNLOCK position. Measure voltage between power window switch connector terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Light Green wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to step 19.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between power window switch connector terminal No. 2 and ground. Measure resistance between terminal No. 7 and ground. (Scheme 4) If each resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 21. If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to step 20.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove inoperative power window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-870-S33166130502000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Ensure master window switch remote lock-out feature is in UNLOCK position. Measure resistance between master window switch connector C509 terminal No. 2 (component side) and connector C510 terminal No. 3 (component side). see scheme 3 If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Light Green wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace master window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-870-S33166130502000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove and disconnect master window switch connectors. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-870-S33166130502000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance in appropriate wires between master window switch connectors and inoperative window switch connector. See «WINDOW CONTROL CIRCUITS»(ref-870-S23617032962000031300000) table. If all resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace master window switch. If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate wire. WINDOW CONTROL CIRCUITS Inoperative Window Wire Colors Right Front Tan/Light Blue & White/Yellow Left Rear Gray/Orange & Yellow/Light Blue Right Rear Red/Black & Yellow/Black
- Connect 10-amp fused jumper wire between positive battery voltage and appropriate wire terminal at inoperative window switch connector. Using another jumper wire, ground appropriate terminal at inoperative window switch connector. If window motor operates correctly, go to step 23. If window motor does not operate correctly, go to next step. - Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect inoperative window motor connector. Measure resistance in circuits between inoperative window switch connector and window motor connector. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-870-S06668017522000031300000). If resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace inoperative power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-870-S42135680002000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistances are 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate wire(s).
- Test inoperative window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SINGLE SWITCH»(ref-870-S14839615132000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is faulty, replace switch. If switch is okay, replace master window switch.
TEST D: ONE-TOUCH DOWN FEATURE INOPERATIVE
Note. After repair, clear DTCs and retest system.
- Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, perform Generic Electronic Module (GEM) self-test. If no DTCs, DTC B1398 or DTC B1400 are present, go to next step. If DTCs B1405 or B1410 are present, go to «TEST C: SINGLE WINDOW INOPERATIVE (ALL OTHER WINDOWS OPERATE)»(ref-870-S17356273342000031300000). If DTC B1342 is present, replace GEM. See «GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)»(ref-870-S36967026852000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, trigger GEM active command ACCY RLY to ON. Observe GEM PID D_PWRLY while triggering GEM active command ONE TOUCH to ON and OFF. If PID value agrees with command mode, go to «TEST C: SINGLE WINDOW INOPERATIVE (ALL OTHER WINDOWS OPERATE)»(ref-870-S17356273342000031300000). If PID does not agree with command mode and displays OFFO-G, go to next step. If PID does not agree with command mode and displays ON-B-, go to step 6.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check one-touch down relay. See «MINI RELAYS»(ref-870-S00607360852000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If one-touch down relay is okay, go to next step. If one-touch down relay is faulty, replace relay.
- Remove accessory delay relay from central junction box. Measure resistance between accessory delay relay socket terminal No. 87 and one-touch down relay socket terminal No. 85. see scheme 2 If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace central junction box.
- Disconnect GEM from central junction box 18-pin connector C267. Measure resistance internal resistance of central junction box between one-touch down relay socket terminal No. 86 and central junction box connector C267 terminal No. 2. see scheme 2and (Scheme 1). Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between central junction box connector C267 terminal No. 2 (central junction box side) and ground. Resistance should be 10 k/ohms or more. If resistances are as specified, replace GEM. See «GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)»(ref-870-S36967026852000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistances are not as specified, replace central junction box.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check one-touch down relay. See «MINI RELAYS»(ref-870-S00607360852000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If one-touch down relay is okay, go to next step. If one-touch down relay is faulty, replace relay.
- Disconnect GEM from central junction box 18-pin connector C267. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between one-touch down relay socket terminal No. 86 and ground. see scheme 2 If voltage is present, replace central junction box. If voltage is not present, replace GEM. See «GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)»(ref-870-S36967026852000031300000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
TEST E: VENT WINDOW INOPERATIVE
Note. After repair, clear DTCs and retest system.
- If vehicle is equipped with moon roof, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with moon roof, go to step 3.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Verify moon roof operation. If moon roof operates properly, go to step 4. If moon roof does not operate properly, repair moon roof as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in POWER MOON ROOFS article.
- Verify vent windows operation. If both vent windows operate, go to step 13. If both vent windows do not operate, go to step 20. If only left rear vent window does not operate, go to step 6.
- Verify vent windows operation. If both vent windows operate, go to step 13. If both vent windows do not operate, go to next step. If left rear vent window does not operate, go to step 6.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect left rear vent window switch connector. Measure resistance between left vent window switch connector terminal No. 7 (Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Pink wire. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-870-S06668017522000031300000). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect left rear vent window switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between left rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 4 (Pink wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Pink wire. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-870-S06668017522000031300000).
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between left rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) Measure resistance between left rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and ground. If each resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate Black wire(s).
- Test left rear vent window switch. See «POWER VENT WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-870-S04685092872000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace left rear vent window switch.
- Disconnect left rear vent window motor connector. Connector is located at left rear corner panel. Measure resistance of Yellow/Light Blue wire between vent window motor connector and left rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 3. (Scheme 4) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace repair open in Yellow/Light Blue wire.
- Measure resistance between left rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Light Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Yellow/Light Blue wire.
- Measure resistance of White/Light Blue wire between left rear vent window motor connector and left rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 6. (Scheme 4) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in White/Light Blue wire.
- Measure resistance between left rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 6 (White/Light Blue wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace left rear vent window motor. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Light Blue wire.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect right rear vent window switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between right rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 4 (Pink wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Pink wire.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between right rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and ground. Measure resistance between right rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If each resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate Black wire(s). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-870-S06668017522000031300000).
- Test right rear vent window switch. See «POWER VENT WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-870-S04685092872000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace vent window switch.
- Disconnect right rear vent window motor connector. Connector is located at right rear corner panel. Measure resistance of Yellow/Red wire between right rear vent window motor connector and right rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 3. (Scheme 4) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Yellow/Red wire.
- Measure resistance between right rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire.
- Measure resistance of White/Red wire between right rear vent window motor connector and right rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 6. (Scheme 4) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in White/Red wire.
- Measure resistance between right rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 6 (White/Red wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace right rear vent window motor. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Red wire.
- Remove vent window/moon roof relay from RPO relay block No. 2. RPO relay block No. 2 is located left front of rear wheelwell. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between vent window/moon roof relay socket terminal No. 30 and ground. see scheme 2 If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Red/Black wire. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-870-S06668017522000031300000).
- Measure voltage between vent window/moon roof relay socket terminal No. 86 and ground. see scheme 2 If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to «TEST D: ONE-TOUCH DOWN FEATURE INOPERATIVE»(ref-870-S29622973742000031300000).
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between vent window/moon roof relay socket terminal No. 85 and ground. see scheme 2 If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire. Ground point is near left rear wheelwell.
- Test vent window/moon roof relay. See «MINI RELAYS»(ref-870-S00607360852000031300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If relay is okay, go to next step. If relay is faulty, replace relay.
- Measure resistance between left rear vent window switch connector terminal No. 7 (Black wire) and ground. (Scheme 4) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Pink wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-870-S06668017522000031300000).
