PCM Reset Procedure
After a PCM reset procedure has been performed, the following conditions will be met
- All DTCs will be cleared from PCM memory.
- All freeze frame data will be cleared from PCM memory.
- Diagnostic monitoring results will be cleared from PCM memory.
- OBD-II system monitor status will reset.
- DTC P1000 will be set in PCM memory until all OBD-II system monitors or components have been tested to satisfy OBD-II drive cycle without any faults occurring. To clear DTC P1000, perform «DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE»(ref-139800-S08224181432002050900000) under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS. Ensure OBD-II DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE is performed to verify repair.
To perform PCM reset using scan tool, perform the following
- Using Generic Scan Tool Follow scan tool manufacturer's operating instructions.
- Using New Generation Star Tester Turn ignition off. Perform necessary vehicle preparation and visual inspection. Select VEHICLE YEAR and MODEL. Follow operating instructions from menu. Select GENERIC OBD-II FUNCTIONS. Press CONT button if all OBD-II monitors are not complete. Turn ignition on. Select CLEAR DIAGNOSTIC CODES. Press START key.
If after clearing DTCs a concern has not been corrected, or a fault is still present, a hard code will immediately be reset in PCM memory.
Keep Alive Random Access Memory Reset Procedure

Resetting RAM will return PCM memory to its default setting. Adaptive learning contents are included. To clear RAM, disconnect negative battery terminal for a minimum for 5 minutes. After RAM has been reset, DTCs P1000 and P0603 will be stored in PCM.
Resetting OBD-II DTCs (New Generation Star Tester)
To reset OBD-II DTCs, turn ignition off. Ensure test equipment is properly attached. Using NGS tester, perform the following steps
- Select VEHICLE & ENGINE SELECTION menu.
- Select NEW VEHICLE, YEAR & MODEL.
- Follow operating instructions from scan tool menu.
- Select GENERIC OBD-II FUNCTIONS. Press CONT button if all OBD-II monitors are incomplete.
- Turn ignition on.
- Select CLEAR DIAGNOSTIC CODES.
- Press START key.

Disconnect negative battery cable from battery for a minimum of 5 minutes. After RAM has been reset, DTCs P1000 and P0603 will be stored in PCM.
