SHIFT CABLE/LINKAGE
- Place shift control selector in PARK position. Loosen cable nut at transmission range switch. Move shift cable rearward as far as possible. Check cable for any tension or restriction of movement then tighten cable nut.
- Check PARK engagement. Start engine and ensure transmission shifts through all gears. Verify vehicle only starts in "P" and "N" position and backup lights work. If not, check transmission range sensor adjustment. See «TRANSMISSION RANGE (TR) SENSOR/SWITCH»(ref-24124-S17854779762001011800000) .
SHIFT INDICATOR CABLE
Place shift control selector in PARK position. Loosen 4 gear shift selector bezel screws. Move bezel to proper position and tighten 4 bezel screws.
TRANSMISSION RANGE (TR) SENSOR/SWITCH
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner assembly. Place shift selector in "N" position. Disconnect shift cable and manual control lever from transmission range switch. Disconnect harness connector from TR switch. Loosen 2 TR switch retaining bolts.
- Connect ohmmeter between terminal "A" and terminal "H". (Scheme 10) Adjust transmission range switch so that no continuity exists between terminals. Tighten 2 TR sensor retaining bolt. Install manual control lever, shift cable and air cleaner assembly. Connect negative battery cable.
- Check PARK engagement. Start engine and ensure transmission shifts through all gears. If not, check shift cable adjustment. See «SHIFT CABLE/LINKAGE»(ref-24124-S33760701292001011800000). Verify vehicle only starts in "P" and "N" positions and backup lights work.

THROTTLE VALVE CABLE
- Remove square head plug. (Scheme 11) Install Transmission Test Adapter (D87C-7700-A) and Pressure Gauge (T57L-77820-A). Position gear shift in PARK position. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature. NOTE: Bolt "1" MUST be loosen before bolt "2". (Scheme 12)
- Loosen bolt "1" then bolt "2". Verify throttle plate is fully closed. Tighten bolt "1" to 61-86 inch lbs. (7-10 N.m). Pull back on throttle cable conduit until line pressure slightly exceeds 62-81 psi (4.4-5.7 kg/cm 2 ).
- Push throttle cable conduit in until line pressure decreases to adjustment pressure of 71 psi (5 kg/cm 2 ). Tighten bolt "2" to 61-86 inch lbs. (7-10 N.m). Verify that all slack is removed from cable.
- Any movement of cable MUST result in an increase of line pressure. Turn ignition off. Verify smooth operation of throttle cable. Start engine and slightly press accelerator pedal, then run engine at an idle.
- Verify that line pressure is within specification. If line pressure is incorrect, repeat procedure. If line pressure is correct, turn ignition off. Remove pressure gauge and install NEW square head plug. Tighten plug to 44-86 inch lbs. (5-10 N.m).
