Normal Operation
The seat control switch is supplied battery voltage on circuit SBB19 (BU/RD) and ground on circuit GD182 (BK/GY). The seat control switch then supplies voltage and ground to the appropriate circuits to operate the seat motors.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following
- Fuse
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Seat control switch
The power seat should move quietly during operation. Some noise is acceptable.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following
- Seat track alignment
- Seat track
The power seat movement should be smooth and the seat cushion should not rock during or after operation.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following
- Seat track fastening hardware
- Seat track
The power seat should travel fully horizontal (forward/rearward) and vertical (front up/down and rear up/down).
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following
- Seat track obstruction
- Seat track
The driver seat control switch is supplied battery voltage on circuit SBB19 (BU/RD) and ground on circuit GD182 (BK/GY). When pressed, the seat control switch supplies that voltage and ground to horizontal motor circuits CPS23 (GN/VT) and CPS28 (GN), front height motor circuits CPS24 (GY) and CPS25 (WH/VT) or rear height motor circuits CPS26 (YE/BU) and CPS27 (BU/BN).
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Seat control switch
- Seat track
The HVAC module contains the heated seat control buttons and indicators. The heated seat system operates independently from the climate control system and the engine must be running. A heated seat relay is located underneath each heated seat cushion frame. Voltage is supplied from the Smart Junction Box (SJB) heated seat relay enable circuit CBP43 (GY) to each heated seat relay coil. Ground is supplied to the opposite side of the driver or passenger relay coil by HVAC module heated seat relay drive circuit CHS29 (WH/BU) or heated seat relay drive circuit CHS30 (GY/YE) when a heated seat switch button is pressed to energize the affected relay. This closes the relay contact to supply battery voltage from SJB circuit SBP18 (YE/RD) to the driver heater mat circuit CHS 11 (VT/GN) or passenger heater mat circuit CHS 12 (YE/GN). The driver and passenger heater mats are directly connected to ground circuit GD182 (BK/GY) completing the electrical circuit to heat the seats.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following
- Fuse(s)
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- HVAC module
The HVAC module contains the driver heated seat control button and indicator. The heated seat system operates independently from the climate control system and the engine must be running. A heated seat relay is located underneath the driver seat cushion frame. Voltage is supplied from the Smart Junction Box (SJB) heated seat relay enable circuit CBP43 (GY) to the driver heated seat relay coil. Ground is supplied to the opposite side of the driver relay coil by the HVAC module heated seat relay drive circuit CHS29 (WH/BU) when the driver heated seat switch button is pressed to energize the relay. This closes the relay contacts to supply battery voltage from the SJB circuit SBP18 (YE/RD) to the driver heater mat circuit CHS 11 (VT/GN). The driver heater mats are directly connected to ground circuit GD182 (BK/GY) completing the electrical circuit to heat the seat.
- DTC B12AB (Drivers Heated Seat Relay Drive Circuit Shorted to Battery Voltage) - If the driver heated seat relay drive circuit is shorted to voltage and the HVAC module attempts to activate the driver heated seat relay, the DTC will set and the seat will fail to heat or intermittently heat.
- DTC B12AC (Drivers Heated Seat Relay Drive Circuit Open or Shorted to Ground) - If the driver heated seat relay drive circuit is open or shorted to ground and the HVAC module attempts to activate the driver heated seat relay, the DTC will set and the seat will fail to heat or intermittently heat.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Heated seat relay
- Heater mat
- HVAC module
The HVAC module contains the passenger heated seat control button and indicator. The heated seat system operates independently from the climate control system and the engine must be running. A heated seat relay is located underneath the passenger seat cushion frame. Voltage is supplied from the Smart Junction Box (SJB) heated seat relay enable circuit CBP43 (GY) to the passenger heated seat relay coil. Ground is supplied to the opposite side of the passenger relay coil by the HVAC module from the heated seat relay drive circuit CHS30 (GY/YE) when the passenger heated seat switch button is pressed to energize the relay. This closes the relay contacts to supply battery voltage from the SJB circuit SBP18 (YE/RD) to the passenger heater mat circuit CHS 12 (YE/GN). The passenger heater mats are directly connected to ground circuit GD182 (BK/GY) completing the electrical circuit to heat the seat.
- DTC B12AD (Passenger Heated Seat Relay Drive Circuit Shorted to Battery Voltage) - If the passenger heated seat relay drive circuit is shorted to voltage and the HVAC module attempts to activate the passenger heated seat relay, the DTC will set and the seat will fail to heat or intermittently heat.
- DTC B12AE (Passenger Heated Seat Relay Drive Circuit Open or Shorted to Ground) - If the passenger heated seat relay drive circuit is open or shorted to ground and the HVAC module attempts to activate the passenger heated seat relay, the DTC will set and the seat will fail to heat or intermittently heat.

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Heated seat relay
- Heater mat
- HVAC module
