Rear View Mirror: Removal & Installation Ford Escape II

Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the front door trim panel. For additional information, refer to «INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION»(ref-344075) .
  2. Disconnect the exterior mirror electrical connector.
  3. Remove the 3 bolts and the exterior mirror. To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the exterior mirror glass. For additional information, refer to «EXTERIOR MIRROR GLASS»(ref-344150-S21422731742009101600000) .
  2. Remove the exterior mirror motor screw.
  3. With a flat-blade tool, release the 3 exterior mirror motor tabs.
  4. Remove the exterior mirror motor. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Position the exterior mirror glass in the full down position.
  2. WARNING: Place a shop towel between the hands and the exterior mirror glass for protection in case of glass breakage during mirror service. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury. Pull outward on the upper exterior mirror glass to release the locking tabs from the exterior mirror motor.
  3. Position the exterior mirror glass down.
  4. Remove the exterior mirror glass from the exterior mirror motor. Pull outward on the exterior mirror glass. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors from the exterior mirror glass.

Installation

  1. If equipped, connect the electrical connectors to the mirror glass.
  2. Install the lower exterior mirror glass onto the exterior mirror motor.
  3. Position the exterior glass upward.
  4. WARNING: Place a shop towel between the hands and the exterior mirror glass for protection in case of glass breakage during mirror service. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Place a hand against the back of the exterior mirror and a hand flat against the upper exterior mirror glass. Press the glass in place until it is fully seated.

  1. Remove the LH sail panel. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  2. Remove the exterior mirror control switch. Press the 2 retaining tabs.
  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
