Removal and Installation
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-232248) .
- Disconnect the camshaft position sensor (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the bolt and the CMP. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Inspect the O-ring seal and install new as necessary.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(ref-232183) .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-232248) .
- Remove the 5 bolts and the RH splash shield. To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the bolt and the CKP. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Inspect the O-ring seal and install new as necessary.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal
- Retrieve the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration retrieval steps of the Programmable Module Installation procedure. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-232246) .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-232248) .
- Remove the 2 powertrain control module (PCM) stud bolt nuts and position the wiring harness and the manifold absolute pressure sensor aside.
- Disconnect the 3 PCM electrical connectors.
- Remove the 2 stud bolts and the PCM.
Installation
- Install the PCM and the 2 stud bolts. Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Connect the 3 PCM electrical connectors.
- Position the manifold absolute pressure sensor and the wiring harness and install the 2 PCM stud bolt nuts. Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-232248) .
- Restore the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration restore steps of the Programmable Module Installation procedure. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-232246) .
- Reprogram the passive anti-theft system (PATS). Carry out the Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys procedure. For additional information, refer to «ANTI-THEFT - PATS»(ref-232268) .
- Carry out the Transaxle Drive Cycle Test. For additional information, refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE-TRANSMISSION - CD4E»(ref-232215) .
Scheme 37
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-232248) .
- Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 screws and the TP sensor. To install, tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-232248) .
- Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the IAC valve and discard the gasket. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Clean and inspect all sealing surfaces. Install new gasket.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

| CAUTION | The mass air flow (MAF) sensor electronics module and body are calibrated as a unit and must be serviced as a unit. Do not tamper with the sensing elements located in the air flow bypass of the MAF body. |
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-232248) .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to «INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING - 3.0L (4V)»(ref-232205) .
- Disconnect the mass airflow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the 4 nuts and the MAF sensor. To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-232207) .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-232248) .
- Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the ECT sensor. Pull upward on the locking tab. Rotate the sensor counterclockwise and remove.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-232248) .
- Disconnect the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor electrical connector and vacuum tube.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor. To install, tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in). Inspect the O-ring seal and install new as necessary.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
