Interior Lighting Delay
The purpose of the interior lighting delay feature is to provide temporary illumination of the interior lamps after doors are opened, then closed. The interior lighting delay feature will keep the interior lamps on for a period of up to 25 seconds, or until the ignition cycles from OFF, or the vehicle is locked using the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter.
Illuminated Entry
The illuminated entry requests the interior lamps to be illuminated when the ignition is off and the RKE transmitter unlock button is pressed. The illuminated entry requests the interior lamps off after 25 seconds elapse, the ignition is switched to ON, or when the RKE transmitter lock is pressed.
Illuminated Exit
The illuminated exit requests the interior lamps be illuminated for 25 seconds when all doors are closed and the ignition key is removed from the ignition lock cylinder. The illuminated exit will request the interior lamps be deactivated when any door becomes ajar, the key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder, or 25 seconds expire.
Theater Lighting
The theater lighting option ramps up the interior lamps over 0.7 seconds when interior lamp activation is requested. The theater lighting feature ramps down the interior lamps over 1.7 seconds when interior lighting deactivation is requested by any other feature other than the panic alarm or battery saver.
Interior Lamp Arbitrator
The interior lamp arbitrator (located in the SJB) chooses between the interior lighting, interior mode, interior lighting delay, illuminated entry, illuminated exit and battery saver to determine which feature has precedence of activating and deactivating the interior lamps. The features are prioritized as follows: battery saver, interior mode, interior lighting, interior light delay, illuminated entry, and illuminated exit.
Battery Saver
The battery saver is internal to the SJB and provides automatic shut-off of the demand lamps (vanity lamps and map lamps) and interior lamps after a period of 10 minutes has elapsed in order to save battery voltage. A timer in the SJB is started when the ignition key is turned to the OFF position. When the time-out period for the lamps has elapsed, the voltage is automatically shutoff to the lamps by the battery saver. While battery saver has voltage disabled, if the ignition is turned to any position other than OFF, any door or liftgate becomes ajar or the unlock button of the remote transmitter is pressed, the battery saver will restore voltage and start the timer again. The amount of time that is required to elapse before the voltage to the lamps is shut off is 10 minutes.

- A1 CHECK THE SJB DTCS FROM BOTH CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS Verify all the interior lamp switches are in the DOOR position. Use the recorded results from the SJB continuous and on-demand self-test. Are any DTCs recorded? Yes : For DTCs B1314 or B1316, GO to A3 . For DTC B1372, GO to A5 . For all other DTCs, REFER to the «SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX»(ref-232287-S00963612672006051600000) . No : GO to A2.
- A2 CHECK CIRCUIT 1005 (VT/OG) FOR VOLTAGE Disconnect: Interior Lamp C918. Measure the voltage between the interior lamp C918-1, circuit 1005 (VT/OG), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to A5 . No : GO to A3.
- A3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1005 (VT/OG) FOR OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Interior Lamp C918. Disconnect: SJB C2280c. Measure the resistance between the interior lamp C918-1, circuit 1005 (VT/OG), harness side and the SJB C2280c-25, circuit 1005 (VT/OG), harness side; and between the interior lamp C918-1, circuit 1005 (VT/OG), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the interior lamp and the SJB and is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms between the interior lamp and ground? Yes : GO to A4. No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- A4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1695 (YE/WH) FOR VOLTAGE Disconnect: SJB C2280b. Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280b-2, circuit 1695 (YE/WH), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to A7 . No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- A5 CHECK CIRCUIT 401 (PK) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Interior Lamp C918. Disconnect: SJB C2280c. Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280c-28, circuit 401 (PK), harness side and the interior lamp C918-2, circuit 401 (PK), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to A6. No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- A6 CHECK CIRCUIT 401 (PK) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Key in ON position. Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280c-28, circuit 401 (PK), harness side and ground. Is any voltage indicated? Yes : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. No : GO to A7.
- A7 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION Disconnect all the SJB connectors. Check for corrosion pushed-out pins Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to «MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES»(ref-232247) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

- B1 CHECK THE SJB DTCS FROM BOTH CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS Verify all the interior lamp switches are in the DOOR position. Use the recorded results from the SJB continuous and on-demand self-test. Are any DTCs recorded? Yes : For DTCs B1319, B1327, B1335, B1571, B2077 or B2902, GO to B4 . For DTC B1374, GO to B3 . - B2 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR PIDS Key in ON position. Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Diagnostic PID Data Monitor. Check the door ajar PIDs while opening and closing all the doors, liftgate and liftgate glass. Do all the door ajar and liftgate ajar PID values agree with the door and liftgate positions? Yes : GO to B3. No : GO to B4 .
- B3 CHECK CIRCUIT 401 (PK) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Interior Lamp C918. Disconnect: SJB C2280c. Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280c-28, circuit 401 (PK), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? Yes : GO to B8 . No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- B4 CHECK CIRCUIT 570 (BK/WH) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect the inoperative door ajar switch. Measure the resistance between the inoperative door ajar switch connector, circuit 570 (BK/WH), harness side and ground. Refer to the «CONNECTOR REFERENCE»(ref-232287-S03342986762006051600000) for location and connector.
