| CAUTION | Refrigerant Compressor Oil (Mineral Oil) F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) should be used to lubricate R-134a refrigerant system O-rings seals only and should not be added to R-134a refrigerant systems as an A/C compressor lubricant. PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B only should be used as an A/C compressor lubricant. |

- Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to «CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-210167) .
- Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-210139) .
- Disconnect the heater hoses (18472).
- Disconnect the refrigerant line spring lock couplings. Discard the O-ring seals.
- If equipped, remove the LH quarter trim panel. For additional information, refer to «INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION»(ref-210204) .
- Remove the auxiliary plenum chamber (18471). Remove the screw. Remove the auxiliary plenum chamber.
- Remove the air conditioning and heater assembly. Remove the screws. Remove the air conditioning and heater assembly.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Lubricate the coolant hoses using plain water, if needed. Install new O-ring seals lubricated in clean mineral oil. Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. For additional information, refer to «CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-210167) .
- Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to «CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-210167) .
- Fill the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-210139) .

- If equipped, remove the LH quarter trim panel. For additional information, refer to «INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION»(ref-210204) .
- Disconnect the blower motor resistor electrical connector.
- Remove the blower motor resistor (18591). Remove the screws. Remove the blower motor resistor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- If equipped, remove the LH quarter trim panel. For additional information, refer to «INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION»(ref-210204) .
- Remove the blower motor (19805). Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector. Remove the blower motor housing cooling tube (19A786). Remove the screws. Remove the blower motor.
- Remove the blower motor wheel. Remove the retaining clip. Remove the blower motor wheel.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the air conditioning and heater assembly. For additional information, refer to «AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATER ASSEMBLY»(ref-210172-S42528670862005121400000) .
- Disconnect the evaporator core spring lock couplings. Discard the O-ring seals.
- Position the heater water hoses out of the way.
- Remove the evaporator case cover. Remove the screws. Remove the evaporator case cover.
- Remove the A/C evaporator core (19860). Remove the seal. Remove the A/C evaporator core.
- Remove the seal.
- Remove the thermostatic expansion valve (TXV).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Fabricate a removal tool from a 1/8 inch diameter rod.
- Rotate the A/C register with the removal tool to align the retaining ears with the clearance openings and remove the A/C register.

- Remove the heater core cover. Remove the screws. Remove the heater core cover.
- Clamp off and disconnect the heater hoses.
- Remove the heater core. Remove the heater core case seal. Remove the heater core.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Lubricate the coolant hoses with plain water, if needed.
- Fill the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-210139) .
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
