TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
The manual climate control system heats or cools (if equipped with A/C) the vehicle interior depending on the function selector position and the temperature selected. Function selector position determines heating or cooling (if equipped with A/C) and air distribution. The temperature blend control setting determines air temperature.
The manual climate control components are used to
- select air inlet source (outside or recirculated).
- select blower motor speed.
- select discharge air temperature (temperature blend).
- select discharge air location (defrost, panel, floor).
- select A/C compressor clutch operation (if equipped with A/C).

Climate Control Assembly
The climate control assembly has three system controls
- The function selector switch combines a vacuum selector valve with two electrical switches to supply battery positive voltage to the A/C clutch circuit (if equipped with A/C) and the blower motor control circuit.
- The temperature selection is accomplished with a potentiometer connected to the electric temperature blend door actuator that controls positioning of the temperature blend door. Movement of the control knob (18519) from COOL (Blue) to WARM (Red) causes a corresponding movement on the air temperature control door and determines the temperature that the system will maintain.
- The blower motor switch controls blower motor speed by adding or bypassing resistors in the heater blower motor switch resistor (18591).

The blower motor resistor has the following features
- The assembly is located on the passenger side of the vehicle on the evaporator housing.
- Three resistance elements are mounted on the resistor board to provide four blower motor speeds.
- Depending on the blower switch position, series resistance is added or bypassed in the blower motor circuit to decrease or increase blower motor speed.
- An overheating protective device (thermal limiter) will open the resistor coil circuit when the temperature reaches 121°C (250°F) interrupting the blower motor operation in all speeds except HI.
- The thermal limiter cannot be reset and is not serviceable.

- Remove the headlamp switch knob. Remove the headlamp switch knob. Rotate the headlamps switch bezel counterclockwise and remove.
- Remove the audio unit. For additional information, refer to «AUDIO UNIT»(/ford/cutaway-e350/2004-2007/remont/entertainment-systems/#entertainment-system-audio-unit) .
- Remove the instrument panel finish panel. Remove the screws. Remove the instrument panel finish panel. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the climate control assembly. Remove the screws. Remove the climate control assembly.
- Disconnect the vacuum and electrical connectors.
- Remove the climate control assembly.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the climate control switch knobs.
- Remove the A/C-heater function selector switch. Remove the screw. Remove the A/C-heater function selector switch.
- Remove the temperature control switch. Remove the screw. Remove the temperature control switch.
- Remove the heater blower motor switch (18578). Remove the screw. Remove the heater blower motor switch.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the temperature blend door actuator (19E616). Disconnect the temperature blend door actuator connector. Remove the four screws. Remove the temperature blend door actuator.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the battery.
- Remove the battery tray. Remove the screws. Remove the battery tray.
- Disconnect the blower motor resistor electrical connector.
- Remove the blower motor resistor (18591). Remove the two screws. Remove the blower motor resistor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the access panel. Use a screwdriver to pry the access panel out.
- Remove the vacuum lines.
- Remove the two screws.
- Remove the vacuum control motor (18A318). Lift up on the vacuum control motor arm to disengage it from the door crank. Remove the vacuum control motor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the access panel. Use a screwdriver to pry the access panel out.
- Remove the vacuum line.
- Remove the two screws.
- Remove the vacuum control motor (18A318). Lift up on the vacuum control motor arm to disengage it from the door crank. Remove the vacuum control motor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the instrument panel finish panel.
- Remove the bolts and the instrument panel reinforcement.
- Remove the bolts and the instrument panel reinforcement bracket.
- Remove the vacuum line.
- Remove the two screws.
- Remove the vacuum control motor (18A318). Lift the vacuum control motor arm off of the door crank. Remove the vacuum control motor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the evaporator core housing assembly. For additional information, refer to «HEATING & VENTILATION»(/ford/cutaway-e350/2004-2007/remont/heater/#hvac-system-heating-ventilation) .
- Remove the vacuum reservoir tank. Remove the screw. Drill out the heat stake. Remove the vacuum reservoir tank.
- Disconnect the vacuum harness.
Installation
- Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
