TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

The electronic engine controls consist of the following components

  1. Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor (located on the left side of the engine)
  2. PCM (located on the left side of the bulkhead)
  3. Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM) (located on the left inner fender well)
  4. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (located on the engine front cover)
  5. Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor (located on the cowl)
  6. Intake Air Temperature 2 (IAT2) sensor (located on the intake manifold)
  7. Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor
  8. Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) sensor (located in the oil cooler)
  9. Exhaust Pressure (EP) sensor (located on the left valve cover)
  10. Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor (located on the right side of the engine)
  11. Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch (located in the oil cooler)
  12. Barometric Pressure (BARO) sensor (located under the steering column)
  13. Turbocharger variable vane hydraulic control valve (located on the turbocharger)
  14. Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor (located on the Air Cleaner (ACL))

Removal and Installation

Note. The Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor is not serviced separately.

Note. Install a new accelerator pedal assembly if the APP sensor requires service.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the 2 screws from the Data Link Connector (DLC).
  3. Remove the instrument panel steering column cover.
  4. Disconnect the Barometric Pressure (BARO) sensor from the mounting and position out.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the BARO sensor.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

PARTS DESCRIPTION CHART

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(/ford/cutaway-e350-super-duty/2008-2012/remont/hoistjack/#jacking-lifting-e-series) .
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the bolt, the CMP sensor and discard the O-ring seal. To install, tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Install a new O-ring seal.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Remove the bolt and position the ground cable aside. To install, tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
  4. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
  5. Remove the bolt, the CKP sensor and discard the O-ring seal. To install, tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Install a new O-ring seal.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(/ford/cutaway-e350-super-duty/2008-2012/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#engine-cooling-system-e-series) .
  3. Remove the 6 pushpin retainers and the upper air deflector.
  4. Remove the 4 power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
  5. Remove the power steering fluid indicator and 3 bolts. Remove the power steering reservoir bracket. Install the power steering indicator and position aside.
  6. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe.
  7. Loosen the clamps and remove the ACL outlet pipe.
  8. Loosen the clamps and remove the CAC tube.
  9. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) electrical connector.
  10. Remove the ECT sensor and discard the O-ring seal.

Scheme 45: Installation
  1. Using a new O-ring seal, install the ECT sensor. Tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
  2. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
  3. Position the CAC tube and tighten the clamps. Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
  4. Position the ACL outlet pipe and tighten the clamps.
  5. Connect the coolant hoses to the ACL outlet pipe.
  6. Position the power steering reservoir bracket and install the power steering fluid indicator and the 3 bolts.
  7. Install the 4 power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
  8. Position the upper air deflector and install the 6 pushpin retainers.
  9. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(/ford/cutaway-e350-super-duty/2008-2012/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#engine-cooling-system-e-series) .

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the engine cover. For additional information, refer to «INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION»(/ford/cutaway-e350-super-duty/2008-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation-e-series) .
  3. Remove the bolt and position the ground wire aside. Disconnect the electrical connector pushpin.
  4. Remove the bolt and position the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) assembly aside.
  5. Remove the 6 pushpin retainers and the upper air deflector.
  6. Remove the 4 power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
  7. Remove the 3 bolts and position the wiring aside.
  8. Remove the 3 bolts for the CAC tube and the oil fill tube.
  9. Disconnect and remove the oil fill tube at the valve cover.
  10. Loosen the CAC tube clamps. To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
  11. Remove the 2 nuts, CAC tube, oil fill tube and bracket.
  12. Remove the bolt for the turbocharger oil feed tube. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  13. Remove the 2 bolts and the turbocharger oil tube. Discard the turbocharger oil tube gasket and O-ring seal. To install, tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
  14. Disconnect the Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch electrical connector.
  15. Remove the EOP switch. To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
  16. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Install a new gasket and O-ring seal on the turbocharger oil feed tube.

  3. Disconnect the Exhaust Pressure (EP) sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the EP sensor. To install, tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Retrieve the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration retrieval steps of the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) procedure. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(/ford/cutaway-e350-super-duty/2008-2012/remont/communication-devices/#module-configuration-system-e-series) .
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Remove the 3 bolts and position the degas bottle aside. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  4. Disconnect the Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM) electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the 4 bolts and the FICM . To install, tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure. If the fuel injector control module was replaced, restore the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration steps of the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) procedure. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(/ford/cutaway-e350-super-duty/2008-2012/remont/communication-devices/#module-configuration-system-e-series) .

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the 6 pushpin retainers and the upper air deflector.
  3. Remove the 4 power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
  4. Remove the power steering fluid indicator and 3 bolts. Remove the power steering reservoir bracket. Install the power steering indicator and position aside.
  5. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet tube.
  6. Loosen the clamps and remove the ACL outlet pipe.
  7. Loosen the clamps and remove the CAC tube. To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
  8. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature 2 (IAT2) sensor electrical connector.
  9. Remove the IAT2 sensor. To install, tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. Disconnect the pressure hose. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. Remove the 2 mounting screws and the MAP sensor.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  2. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
  3. Remove the 2 screws and the MAF sensor. To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  9. Disconnect and remove the oil fill tube at the valve cover.
  10. Loosen the CAC tube clamps. To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
  11. Remove the 2 nuts, CAC tube, oil fill tube and bracket.
  12. Disconnect the Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) sensor.
  13. Remove the EOT sensor. To install, tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
  14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

  3. Remove the 6 pushpin retainers and the upper air deflector.
  4. Remove the 4 power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
  5. Remove the power steering fluid indicator and 3 bolts. Remove the power steering reservoir bracket. Install the power steering indicator and position aside.
  6. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe.
  7. Loosen the clamps and remove the ACL outlet pipe.
  8. Unlatch and disconnect the PCM electrical connectors.
  9. Remove the bolt and PCM.

Installation

  1. Install the PCM and the bolt. Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  2. Connect the PCM electrical connectors and latch.
  3. Position the ACL outlet pipe and tighten the clamps.
  4. Connect the coolant hoses to the ACL outlet pipe.
  5. Position the power steering reservoir bracket and install the power steering indicator. Install the 3 bolts.
  6. Install the 4 power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
  7. Position the upper air deflector and install the 6 pushpin retainers.
  8. Restore the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration restore steps of the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) procedure. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(/ford/cutaway-e350-super-duty/2008-2012/remont/communication-devices/#module-configuration-system-e-series) .
  9. Carry out the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset. For additional information, refer to «ANTI-THEFT - PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS)»(/ford/cutaway-e350-super-duty/2008-2012/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#anti-theft-system-passive-anti-theft-system-pats-e-series) .

  2. Remove the engine cover. For additional information, refer to «INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION»(/ford/cutaway-e350-super-duty/2008-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation-e-series) .
  3. Disconnect the turbocharger variable vane hydraulic control valve electrical connector.
  4. Remove the bolt, bracket and the turbocharger variable vane hydraulic control valve. To install, tighten to 24 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals prior to installing.
